its a sort of humming/vibrating kind of noise.

- coming from the wheels or that general area
- usually when I turn to the right but can/does happen any time
- not from one particular side or front/rear, very random
- not at any particular speed, may actually be RPM based
- happens more when there is more weight in the car

I'm really not sure what it is and I need some ideas. give me whatever ideas you have.

Check power steering fluid. Maybe CV Boot?

power steering fluid ?

a few weeks ago my tranny bracket came loose and it was hanging, that put some strain on the axle so most of the grease from the boot on the tranny side went all over the place. its fine now but I'm waiting for the clicking sound...
I didn't think it would be that because this sound is a little different and doesn't always come from one side.

I thought that too cause I remember when doing the rear disc conversion one of the wheels bearings back there was a little dry so we just added some grease.

I still think that could be a possibility but the reason I'm still asking is because I thought the wheel bearings would make a consistent noise pretty much all the time, so when you lift the car and turn the wheel it should make the noise. the noise doesn't happen all the time so I have put it on the lift and turned the wheels and heard nothing.
I guess the only way to really check it is to take everything off and visually look at it... which I guess I'll have to do eventually

If it's a humming, it's most likely a bearing or tires.
Whether in the trans or wheel, I don't know. Your description is too vague for a good guess over the interweb.

If you're going to be around when Manny and Dustin do his timing belt, I'm going to TRY to make it. IF I do, and you're there, I can look at it if we have time.

Does that sound vague enough for you? tongue.gif

it's usually when she takes a slight right turn, lower RPMs, and there's a good humming from the front pass side. The best way I can describe the exact sound is this: close your mouth and go hhhhhmmmmm, slightly higher pitched. That's the sound biggrin.gif

I guess I can look into that too.... but I know what that sounds like and I didn't think it was that.

thats another thing, its only happened since I got new tires. I used to have Falken ZE-512's and they seemed a little smaller than my Yokohama's

that would explain why it does it while turning and whatever but doesn't explain why it does it sometimes while driving really slow in a straight line...

If it didnt' do it until you got new tires, I would look at those first.
Try swapping front to rear, or even better, swap yours and Dustins wheels [in the front only].
See what that does.

I did. they look fine. I had 2 other people look at my tires too and they couldn't find anything wrong with them either.
I have already rotated them, and Dustin has the same tires kindasad.gif

So when you rotated them nothing changed?
Does Dustin have the same wheels too?

What tires are they?

IF I come, and IF I remember, I'll grab a set of my wheels.
Can you still run 15"s on it?

it would shake a little and pull after I got the new tires so I had it aligned and the wheels re-balanced and rotated. those problems improved a lot... but as far as that noise nothing changed

and yes, I can still put 15"s on it.
