"The S series and C series transmissions share differentials:

The S51 (Camry, Solara), S53 (90-93 Celica), S54 (MR2, 93+ Celica), C56 (MR2 Spyder, Celica GT), and C59 (Corolla, Matrix, excl. XRS) all use the same differential. The MR2 Spyder's helical LSD WILL work in any of these transmissions. The differential part number is shared between these transmissions. Same part number = same part. The MR2 Spyder, however, was the only car to receive a factory LSD that is compatible with these transmissions. It should be exactly the same as the TRD Helical LSD that was discontinued for the S54.

This is great news, because now we have the option of choosing a less aggressive LSD for our transmissions."

i called toyota and the part number for the s54 the 20190 cant be pulled up in their system.

but what about the ....

LSD differential, S54 (SW20, ST202):
41301-20190

.... parth number? why can toyota find it? and how would i tell if the subsitute part really is the subsitute part

@ 1100$ just for the diff, and another 500 for installation...your looking @ ~1600 or so for LSD for the s54.
thats with you pulling the tranny and reinstalling it of course.

i found a place that sell toyota oem c56 helica lsd for a tad uner 650 shipped.

i asked my friend who works @ the toyota dealer, and that the diff is a grand, for that price a quaife diff would be best. has anyone used or heard of the obx diffs? there about 300 online.

OBX diffs have alot of ftiment issues and preload is never set up right

what tools or machines are required to install an LSD? i have bearing pullers, gear and pulley pullers, a 20 ton press, and basic tools to be able to unmount and reinstall the transmission. i'm going to need a new clutch in a year or so and that would be a good time to put one in.

so pretty much you wouldnt use that obx diff then huh? im almost done gathering my parts for my 3sge engine and manual swap, and would like to have added an lsd but ill get it runing first and deal with it later.

I would do it all at once if possible to save you time and you'll notice huge jump in power and grip. But if you have all the time in the world and not enough funds now then do it later

you dont need a bearing puller if you get new bearings, which i suggest. just press them on and install.
