I pulled my spark plugs today for the first time since i bought the car, around 157k, now its at 167k.
1 and 4 were clean as a whistle however they were stock and the gap was rusty and way way off. 2 and 3 were oily, the gap was clean but the rest of the assembly was dripping in oil until about 3/4" from the top of the plug. What is the problem and is it fixable? also the brand of the old plugs were denso, has anyone ever heard of them? thanks! |

It is an easy fix. you will need to buy the gasket and a tube of seal packing from Toyota. Denso is the major supplier for Toyota. Most Toyota OE parts are made by Denso. Basically, when buying new spark plugs, go for Denso or NGK. -------------------- _Gary

Its not hard at all, on the gt , the the hardest part is taking off the throttle cable, which is a must. and finding a 30mm socket. torque spec is 18lbs i belive. idk bout a st, but how hard can it be, atleast ur engine is standing upright . -dave -------------------- 0111011001101001011100110111001101101001

QUOTE howd u know i have the 7A? because you posted something in a thread about pulleys... QUOTE Im still looking for little gains for my 7a and i recently came across a lightweight underdrive crank pulley from OBX. I was wondering if anyone felt any gains in hp after installing one of these, doesnt have to be OBX, and how hard was installation, do u need shorter belts? thanks -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

lol actually it was a random guess, but its all good.
and i believe that the oil cant leak from a 5s into the plugs, now that i think about it. because the chambers they go into are sticking out from it. 7a has seals that can go out -------------------- 0111011001101001011100110111001101101001

Correct. 3S and 7A valve cover gasket can leak onto the plugs. 5S can't. -------------------- |

Cracked spark plug tubes.
Or the sealant is leaking. -------------------- |
