Okay, so today I'm on my way to the turnkpike to head to my cabin for the weekend, and a car pulling a trailer slammed on the brakes (the lights didnt light up on the trailer) and I was in 5th gear so I got on the brakes pretty hard, pretty fast, and didnt get the clutch in fast enough so the car stalled. I figured no problem, I started it back up and it didnt want to go into gear so I pushed it off the side of the road so I didnt block the traffic. So I try to put it back into gear and it just kinda clutters/clanks and would only sometimes go in...and then once its in it would clutter and clank even more. Its not a grinding sound, the best words I can think of are cluttering/clanking. I have no idea what the problem could be? When the car is NOT running, you can go through the gears but as soon as its running then it does it. Help please

Edit: The car is lowered 4", so I dont know if that will be any helpfull information as far as the axles go or anything

the clutter clunk when in gear is probably your drive axle. Try putting it in gear and slowly letting off the clutch. If the sound gets louder its more than likely your drive axle. Well first of all dfoes the car move?

Yeah it gets louder, and doesnt want to move.

I really wanna find the guy that slammed on the brakes infront of me and rip his head off for not having working trailer lights.

Since the car won't move and the clunk gets louder it is definatly your drive axles. Now where does the sound come from the driver side or passenger?

Seems to be more dominate to the driver side, but I'm not positive. What would cost to be repaired, $200-300

300 at the dealership maybe more. I would advise you to get a chilton manual and do this yourself. Parts are around 100.

Okay, so a little update...I stopped by the car today to check up on it, and I started it up and started messing around with it. I put it in first, then started it and at first it kinda jolted foward, but didnt do it anymore then. Also...the clutch like shakes now when releasing it so I'm wondering if it didnt blow the clutch?
