I was just wondering about lowering my car, probably 35mm or 1.5'
as you can see in my profile i have a nice suv-esque ride height.
now i want your opinions on whether iyho is having your car better looking and better handling worth the worse riding and scraping the front bumper on things. how bad was the ride after? cos i like my ride now and cant be stuffed being bounced round all over the place. and its not like i can get springs put in and go for a test drive to see what its like.
and worth the price? it costs nz$500 just for springs to be fitted (comparison 16' alloys and tires like on my car is nz$1600, 17' alloys/tires nz$2200, 17' chrome alloys/tires nz$3200)
so what do you think?

If your looking at the best possible ride, its probably best to leave it stock. It's all up to you. Personally, I do not care how bumpy it is. I am not in my 40's and worried about the luxury of my car, if I was I would have saved longer and bought a Lexus. I suggest lowering it with Eibach Sportlines with the KYB struts with a 50+ series tire if your worried about the ride. I have 35 series tires on the way, and I'll let you know how those go.

cheers, i should have mentioned i have 205/50 16s and i dont plan i changing them any time soon.
it'll cost about nz$1200 for springs and struts, which i cant afford. the currens done 118k or about 68000miles.
and most springs/struts that you guys get in USA/Canada arent available in nz either

I'm sure someone would ship them to New Zealand. 68k is not too high of a milage, so if you got springs you would not need struts right away. Oh and how much exactly is $1200 NZ in USD?

probably about us$700 at the mo i think.
we have a lot of springs available like king springs, pedders, dobbs, whiteline are a few. i think we might get kyb springs actually, i havent looked for ages. a popular choice in aftermarket struts seems to be monroe gt gas, any good?

I have never really heard of any of those brands. You should submit some NZ/AU parts to the database. I know a lot of people on here are looking for headers so if their are any companies out there that offer headers for a 5sfe put it up smile.gif In US for new spring and struts youd be less then $700 for everything(4 struts/4 springs) not including labor.

the 5sfe is the 1.8 engine right? currens came with them as well, you should check out www.toyspeed.org.nz its a nz toyota club and there are plenty of gt4s, currens, celicas, soarers, truenos etc on the board, and one guy has a carib wagon with a 5sfe (i think, the 1.8 engine in currens) that he has turboed. you'll find a lot of info about all JDM Toyotas on this board, and in english. im on it with the same name, havent posted for ages tho cos ive been too busy.

mahahaha yeah, noticed that on the the front page for this site.
dont think there'll be anything around for the 2.2 cos it was only in a few camrys and celicas. there'll probably be a lot of stuff for this engine in australia but not in nz
