I was thinking about picking a kit up. Now, I'm decent in wiring. So if I took an hour or so out of the day, could I have the sucker installed and working? Keep in mind, I'm a moron.

You might be able to get it installed in a hour the lock wires are in the drivers kickpanel. The locks are negative trigger and lock is blue/black and unlock is blue.
Another option is doing a full alarm it's a few more wires and a little more work but you get the protection. Just an idea. |

So I don't have to tear my door apart to do this? Just splice some wires? I would do an alarm, but I don't exactly live in the middle of a crime infested town, nor is my car that bling bling (nor do I have a ridiculously expensive stereo). Plus just the keyless is cheaper, and cuts the ignition wire when you lock the car.

Well, the first time I ever installed keyless entry was when I did it on my car last summer, and it took me around three hours or so to do the wiring and stuff. I could do it in an hour now though, now that I've installed an alarm with remote start.

Sorry I should've asked that too. I assumed you meant you had power locks and wanted to add keyless entry. If you don't have power locks than it is gonna take more than an hour. Coomer: did you locktite all of the screws on the actuator. When I installed at the shop we had a few cars comeback because the screws worked loose. Once we started using locktite we never had a problem. |

Yeah, but you need to buy an actuator from a place like http://www.autoloc.com which will make them open and close on thier own.

I did install power lock actuators when I did this. Those took me a while to do, but that was because it was back when I was dumb.
Also, I didn't use Locktite, and once a screw was loose, so I just tightened it down, and I haven't had problems since. I probably should use some Locktite on them though. By the way, you can find the actuators for like five bucks a pop on eBay. That's what I did, and they're worked perfectly for me. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...
