O/D off is the tale-tale lamp that tells you that OD is currently disengaged. There shoud be a switch on or near your shifter/gearstick that turns it on and off. OD is an extra gear for cruising at high speeds. It lowers the engine revs, thus reducing the work the engine has to do, saves fuel, reduces engine noise and reduces wear and tear on the transmission (because the engine is running slower). i just means that instead of driving in 4 gears, you're only using three.
hence you felt faster cause your rpms were up and there was more throttle response.

Doesnt matter for racing...under full throttle you will not go into overdrive even if its on.

i dont have a button for o/d i do have a light hooked to it i noticed it when i took my clusters out for color change but not once did i see it light up....so whats the deal with that and blub was good i even switch a good bulb with it and still nuttin................

i can beat a civic did it with no prob. his was suped, mine i dont know i bought it as is but its fast i did put k/n intake on.....friend has a civic hatch with a acura integra motor swap im woundering if i can take that its such a light car with a big engin...i beat a 6.1L chevy too, tho i dont really count it, i pitty his heavy but....trying to keep up with a little toy lol

o/d off should make you go slower, at least thats what i feel.
Also whenever i see our cars for sale it says AUTO 5spd with o/d, doesnt that mean you drive in 4 gears and the 5th is for highway driving with lower rpms? im not really sure, but yea can someone also clear up which is faster? with o/d or without it? |

P R N D D2 D1 Or however it goes. i have a manual so i don't know the order --------------------  Call me a traitor! See if I care. ;) |

ok ic.....another quick question alot of you say slowica i know it means slow celica and others are saying 70hp i dont under stand.....witch and what kind of celica are you talking about? st? gt? auto? stick? what yrs? witch engins?...

lets see ill make a list:
manual gt=fastest, maybe 95hp manual st= faster, 90ish auto gt= faster, ~85 auto st= no hope, 70ish hp thats just in my head i dont know real numbers |
