nothing crazy but I installed a window module today. So now my windows go up whenever I arm my alarm.

in my garage, i have to park about 10in away from a wall, so getting in and out of the car is a bit tricky with the windows rolled up. if i had this setup, it would help a lot with that problem.

I used a DEI 529T, which only puts my windows up or down, so I chose up when I arm the car.

For full control (up and down, and one touch up/down) I installed a DEI 530T on Stef's car, so the windows go up when armed, and she can put them down with the opt button on her remote. Plus it gives the "one touch" up and down for both windows biggrin.gif

Installation isn't too difficult, start to finish with someone who knows how to wire these in would be about 2 hours. If someone want me to help them install one to their existing alarm, I can help with tips and pointers smile.gif

very nice dustin, now install a motion sensor inside the car and when the alarm goes off it rolls your windows up. we installed that on my cousins BMW and is really nice, his is a convertible Z4 so he can leave the top down on hot days, if the alarm goes off if put the top and roll the windows up.

BTW I think the motion sensor were banned from NJ 2 years ago. laugh.gif

I've had these on all my cars I've installed alarms on, lol. I love window modules. smile.gif

Basically, for a basic 2 window up module you have seven wires:

+12v
Ground
Grounded when armed
Left motor
Left switch
Right motor
Right switch

You find out which wire gives +12v when the window you want to control is rolling up (or down, if you want to make windows go down), then cut that wire, and hook up one wire from the window module to the motor side, and one to the switch side. It's really not too hard to install at all. smile.gif

Matt,
You can't make them roll down unless you buy a different window module. The one in your car will only roll two windows in one direction. wink.gif

Dustin,
Doesn't the 529t make your windows one-touch in the direction that they're wired to roll? That's what the local authorized DEI retailer told me, but they could be wrong.

nope, only the 530T does. The 529T doesn't have the one touch feature like the 530T.

I went with the 529 for 2 reasons, 1 because my alarm's other opt output only sends a pulse instead of a continuous signal. So if I did the 530t and tried to roll them down they would go down about an inch at a time kindasad.gif and 2 becuase I don't really need the down action, I'm very content with the up when armed...but with Stef's car (she has a better alarm), she wants full window control from her remote smile.gif and that's what I did smile.gif

Makes sense. Just so you know though, you could always use a timer relay. I had a DEI 528t adjustable timer relay that I used for some random projects a while ago. You can adjust the timer from a few seconds to like 45 seconds, and it's activated by a pulse.

As far as your cable issues, I'd start a new thread. wink.gif

But yes, you need a special window roll-up module. The module applies power until it senses resistance and then shuts off...it's not timer based or anything like that.
