i own a 97 st with a 7afe in it, which is slowly going down hill. i want to put the 4age motor in it. so is there anyone who can give me some info on the swap?

If you plan to modify the engine down the road get the 2nd generation silvertop. If you are going to leave it stop get the blacktop. Both are a series blocks and bolt directly in. You can either do the wiring yourself or pay for another member to do it for you for a few hundred bucks.

The 7A - 4A swap is probably one of the easier swaps for the Celica. Since the motors are both A-series they can be swapped and directly implanted. The 4A-GE will drop straight into an ST's motor mounts and bolt up with the C-52 transmission (however if you get a 4A-GE Silver or blacktop I would suggest using the trans that comes with). The only thing needed for the swap is wiring. Wiring is a tedious process, and is best left handled to the professionals, so when you get your motor and such for the swap get in touch with Dr. Tweak (just search for the member name) and send him the 4A-GE and 7A-FE harnesses. He can rewire the harness for you so that all you have to do is hook it back up. It'll run you $300ish for the work on the harness, but you should be able to swap the motors pretty quick and easy with the right tools (Cherry picker, air tools, etc.)

Like 95CelicaST said, you will need to have a wiring harness conversion, and Dr. Tweak is the man do to this for you. Go to his site at http://www.phoenixtuning.com and email him about his services. If plan you on keeping your a/c and power steering, you will need to custom fab. a few hoses and lines so they work accordingly with the engine swap. The exhaust will need to be custom made to either run from the engine's downpipe and straight to the rear of the car, or you go with another option and weld the engine's downpipe to the celica's existing exhaust setup.

WRONG! Most people say its a direct drop with the WIRING BUT you will need a THROTTLE CABLE off of a 5S or 3S motor in order to fully use your gas pedal cause the 7A does not reach the 4A hence the RHD style.
Throttle cable is pretty much a bolt on too.

or just get a 4afte.... turbo it and act like its a DSM cuz the 4afe's are nearly 284 bucks now!.... one i saw for 45k miles. oh dear lord tongue.gif

the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.

im doing the swap right now, motor drops right in, stock axles fit, need throttle cable from tercel or paseo, need to custom make high pressure fuel line(if the one on the 4age is cut), need custom fit exhaust, and have someone(Dr. Tweak) do the wiring for u.

keep the stock pump, the only way it'd be recommended to upgrade your pump is if you turbo the motor as the stock ST pump may not deliver enough fuel for a turbo application, but for a 4age it'll be perfectly fine.

if your looking to do a 4age swap Coomer is your man...he had the cleanest swap i've seen...he could tell you whatever you need to know

a stock 7afe pump will work fine for a stock 4age
