I know the default STX engine is the 1.6L.

However, the STX I purchased has had an engine replacement done, and I think it may be the 2.2L.

Only branding I can find on the engine is "16valve EFI", and all my parts finders online (autozone, etc), only list the 2.2 as EFI, whereas the 1.6 is FI.

It's a 1991 Celica STX.

Thoughts?

STX is an ST with GT features, so you'll either have a 4A-FE 1.6L or a 7A-FE 1.8L.

does the engine slant backwards or does it sit flat in the bay?

Will have to check when I head out from the office. IIRC it sits flat. As I said though, the engine has been swapped previously, so I am unsure if it is stock or not.
