I know we were talking about bobbie lawson's celica in the new issue of superstreet in another thread, but did anyone notice that it says he has a veilside 6 speed shifter?
WTF does he mean by that? I'm guessing its a typo? --------------------

Probably a typo, but maybe someone does make a six-speed tranny. Probably for the gt4 crowd.

I think all you would need is a six speed gear box,I know that there are some 6 speed paseo's,they used the gear box out of a turbo starlet. Maybe there is a car that we could use the gear box out of.

I think when he says that he's meaning that his shift knob is Veilside and just has a six speed shift layout laid out on it.

coomer, your prolly right, I'm pretty sure you can't just use a gearbox to convert your tranny to a six speed

Yeah, I don't think you would just be able to do that either.

Like I said, I don't now if you can chage the gearbox on the celica but on the paseo I was talking about you definatly can and it has been done more than once. The paseo shares the same transmossion as an older model starlet and they had the option of a six speed tranny. I didn't now if we was that lucky with our celicas but I quess not.

the ST, guys can put in a 6spd that came with the blacktop 4age. it will require some modification to the shifter's mounting i would think but the tranny will bolt up to the engine. might need custom tranny mounts. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Just FYI guys, 'gearbox' and 'transmission' are the same thing. You can't change one and not change the other.
If this guy is putting his shift knob on the 'mods' list....wow....thats pretty freakin lame! |

Ok speedtoe, the information I gave was tottally correct so don't look at my mods list and assume I don't know what I am talking about. Check it out and you will find out I am right.
