mad.gif So after installing some new strut mounts to fix the clunking, since I neglected to do when lowering my car, I closed my hatch for the night. The next day I came outside to pop my hatch open to put stuff in there, my hatch wont open. I first inserted my key into the key hole and turned it to the right but the hatch wont pop up like usual. The key hole inert is stuck in the horizontal position (normally vertical) and wont budge. So I go inside and try to pop it from the inside and the latch thing near the driver seat has zero tension what so ever. All I hear is click click click when ever I lift on it. So now I'm left without a working hatch. I know the key hole isnt frozen, maybe the locking mechanism is broken, but how the heck am I going to open my hatch? Its just annoying me. I want to change out a bulb in my taillights since one is out, but can't get ot it. Someone please help?

Ick, sounds like you might have to cut into the trunk plastics to reach the latch mechanism. If the key release has jammed, it could well prevent the remote release from catching.

It's US$150 from the dealer, so I'd suggest checking your local junkyards if it comes to cutting -- or try cutting with a knife at an angle, rather than a saw and you might be able to glue the piece back in.

it looks like your hatch is locked.. we have a lock so you cant open the hatch... turn it to the right, press in and it should go...

I've already tried that. It just sits there turned to the right. So I just ghetto rigged the thing. I took the cables off and using the lock assembly connected the 2 cables together so I can open the hatch from the driver seat just not from outside the car.

lubricating the release handle and the latch assembly itself should help, it's less tension on the cable. other than that, IPB Image.
