When I have joined this site two years ago I didn't know much about celis... my car looked exactly like this:



Immediately I have fallen in love with SS-III look so after one year my car looked like this (yea almost perfect SS-III replica ):



Another year is gone and it's time for another "evolution" ... till end of January 2008 current status:



Only what I can share now is: IT WILL BE UNIQUE . No replica anymore... What I know no one here has tried that before so... stay tuned to see results soon

note: only 3 people here knows more about my "2008 body project". Please... all of you keep that secret for more few days . Thank you!!!

to 6strngs: Agree to the letter... I have received few pics yesterday. During body work they found ''shoddy-work'' of previous owner . It seems rear fender was heavily (and of poor quality) repaired. There is huge layer of putty on it . They need to remove it and repair that fender first... that means another delay . However few pics from work... I know useless because they are not showing anything of my plan... but at last some pics I have for you


door repair... It's last ''survival'' of this crap . I hope it will never happen again...

I wouldn't rush people doing body work on my car though. I'd rather have them take their time and get it done nicer.

Folks... some news for today. I got new clutch at last...



...and since body work has delay I decided to use ''idle time'' for clutch update... (and of course to check progress status of project as well ). Time to drove Aygo again...

Looks like from the picture you've got a vent above the license plate - which means it could be a gt-4 front end... But, since you've gone to this trouble in this thread - i doubt it.

I actually had the idea of making a GT-four front end with SSIII splitters and calling it the GT-III or the SS4, but it looks like you beat me to it. lol. I would never be able to afford that conversion anyway. congrats, it looks great!

everything has started with idea having some kind of aftermarket GT-four style hood. Just get some more air to engine bay (that damn turbo is heat source as hell ). During PECM2007 my usual break looked like this:



So hood... but where to get it? My problem is country where I live. To find any aftermarket part for Japan car (Varis, C-ONE, etc.) is almost impossible and e-bay is not the best way all the time. So... There were two ways to go:

a) modify my stock hood (cut some holes and done)
b) to buy OEM GT-four hood

Than I found bodhi's post "hood vents for sale", send some messages and everything was clear . I had source of the most important part of my project

Plus those hood vents and grille of course.

W/o his help I would not handle it at all. Big, big thanks for your Chris . I just do not know how to thank you enough...

Unfortunately after all luck has happened that "try-to-steal" accident...



..and my budget was almost ruined to repair damages . That "almost" is only thanks to Batman722. He has send me all locks and door handles for free. Thats more than 1/2 of damaged parts!!! You are my real private hero Dustin . I owe you a lot...

After all of that I have started creating list of missing parts to have everything ready. And who would be better than ''Mr.How-to'' azian_advanced? . Have you seen this topic? All pictures you have made and send helped me a lot!!! You saved me a lot of time and lot of troubles Gerald (safety hook solution, rain guard pictures, bumper supporting points solution, etc...)





Finally I went for Toyota dealer. Who has more experience with "Toyota plastic" than Toyota? And honestly to be sure I will get GT-four hood 100% undamaged is only from Toyota for me... So... Work has begun there







My aim is using only genuine body parts at last... So I have finally used as well original splitters I had at home...



Now only few things needs to be done and FINISHED . Below you may compare my photoshop plan and current status with comments:

It's simple why... ask anyone around about Toyota's bumpers welding... Than ask about welding two bumpers together like this:



This is not some fiberglass fake copy... this is made of original Toyota bumper materials!!!

As said, the GT4 bumper was busted up.
I was going to take it to the rubbish tip but Martin asked if I would cut the middle out and send it over.

It sounded like a great celica project, so I couldn't refuse

Excellent work and dare I say, I think it does look better than the GT4 bumper!... although I don't think I can take a saw to my black one lol.

Oh man - you beat me to it! I've always said the GT4 bumper just looks to square-ish to be on such a completely rounded car. I was hoping to do the same but I didn't know how yet and I don't have the $ to throw at it like that. Now I won't do it cause that's not right to do to you. I was gonna use the OEM splitters tho.
That looks 100% better than any Celica I've ever seen - almost exactly what I want my car to look like except the color [which is beautiful BTW - I just have a thing for black] and the splitters. Mega fcuking props man

a few times it has crossed my mind to put the gt4 hood on my carand have the grill vent thingy on my pre-96 bumper butthat would just look really ugly. after i realized how much i like the 96+ bumper i thought of how it would look and if it was worth doing... but i didnt have any money so i just forgot about it.
anyway very nice malpaso. best looking front end on a celica hands down

If somebody else want to do this, I have a front bumper skin sat in my back yard gathering errrr.....rain, I dont mind chopping it up the same as above and sending it to where ever.......It was promised to someone else but after over a year they have never tried to claim it.........I will try one more time to contact them to see if they still want it.....if not its up for grabs (offers) + postage
