I was using the lever to open the trunk and it broke off in my hand. My question is, how do I remove/service this and is there any way to replace the lever with a jury-rigged solution? Thanks in advance for any help.

Id say leave it off... I bought my car with a broken lever, and when someone broke into my car, it was the one thing that kept them from stealing my subs. the box was too big to fit through the back seat and they couldnt pop the trunk obviously biggrin.gif

First make sure you have a replacement trunk switch.

I had the same problem on my car I changed it without reading any kind of manuals its pretty easily sorry I don't have pics or anything but you'll have to take the drivers door sill off and open up the carpet near the trunk switch you'll have to pull it out the back where its clamped onto the bottom frame of the car I don't remember where all the screws are but just take out whatever you see and make sure you put them back the same way. Once you take the lever out you'll have to take apart the broken trunk switch but make sure you take the release cable off first so you can take out the switch after that pop in the new one then put the release cable back on and make sure everything works then you'll have to clamp it back on the bottom again (Might be hard if you have big hands I have small hands and I had trouble....) then reassemble everything. Thats all I can remember I did this awhile ago. All common sense stuff its like changing batterys in a remote. smile.gif

Or you can do it the ghetto way and hammer a nail to it and use that as a lever for the trunk switch but I don't recommend that.....

what does that have to do with the lever?

dude, it's just a line like you have on bike breaks... you will have to pop it off and unscrew it... go to the dealer tell them what you need.... cost you around 5-15

that means that he would have to purchase a whole solenoid and know how to wire it... that's not jurry rigging thats replacing and installing new items, I don't think he would be able to do that...

It's cheap and simple, and you can integrate it into your alarm. I just figure, when somethings broken, upgrade.

it's like 30-40 bucks, not to mention he would have to pull off paneling... plus not all can be intigrated to alarm.... might be harder than buying lever

That's what I do...

"Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn."
"What?"
"Just do it."
".......He said yes."
"Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up."
".......Sweet. Thanks."
"No problem."
