so the shop behind ours at work be brought in this celica a few weeks ago, hit in the nose, bent up hood, bumper, and highbeams..i looked at it,..and thought, hmm, that'd be a cool project car..
i asked the guy about it a couple weeks ago, and he said, "gimme 300$, and its yours, parts are too expensive for it"...
needless to say, ill be picking it up next weekend.
once its fixed up a bit, it will replace my daily driver now, my 93 civic.
i figure what the hell, i work on enough celicas, only right i should be driving one daily!
the wifey drives the beast daily, and i drive it as well, but it will be nice to have my own now as well.
smile.gif
so its a 95 GT,185,000 miles. unfortunately, its an auto, but i figure, no biggie, it will be nice to teach my daughter to drive, (she recently got her permit) and later on,... not like ive never done a auto to manual conversion before! lol
run and drives quite well, even with the front end damage, hell, it didnt even damage the radiator, and it looks like it had recently been replaced! SCORE! lol
its Bright Iris Pearl ..i call it "burple" again, at least my daughter will approve, purple is her favorite color! laugh.gif
a couple pics as it sits:
the good:
IPB Image

the bad

IPB Image

the ugly

IPB Image

it even has the manuals

IPB Image

smile.gif
yay!
hey migga, at least you wont be the only one the girls point and laugh at for having an auto at the meets now!!
BWAHAHAHAH

Dude you got that for $300?! I paid $3500 for mine with 112k miles on it with a salvaged title. Dang it! LOL That's cool though. I can't wait to see what you do to do. I wish my dad wasn't a dead beat and hooked it up with a car and fixed it up. Just make sure your daughter doesn't date guys who don't drive. You wouldn't want a loser in there or even trying to drive it.

ohh, no, tom...this is DEFINETLY NOT for my daughter...i will let her drive it (while its still auto anyway..lol) but its definetly going to be MY car.
ive been telling the wifey, now i can make a new name....the REAL pressure2...lmao
since all my time here has been with her car.

jesse:
ill take you up on that...although we may have to arrange a 100 installment payment plan..lmao things are tight moneywise...at least till the old house sells. but yea, shoot me a PM with what your thinking...maybe we can work somthing out. wink.gif

joe: thanks.

tina...you know D, hes like having a personal celica junkyard as your best friend! haha
we'll see how things go...right now, i just wanna get the car on the road...i've thought of prolly a dozen diffrent ways to go about this thing already...im sure ill go thru a few dozen more before i actually start doing anything. hardest part right now, is once its fixed, its going to need paint...since jenns car is the color i always wanted on our celica, picking a color for this one isnt going to be so easy. wink.gif

nice find, its funny how obsessed everybody is with the auto to manual swap tho... does it really matter when u have a 5sfte already? I'd just fix the body damage and not waste too much more money on it

naa, never a beams swap for me. if im gonna swap, it would definetly be to a built 3sgte.
200na hp would feel slow, compared to the 5sfte car. i cant do a swap, and be SLOWER than my wifes car!! haha

ive been thinking about some SSIII stuff...the SSIII rear extensions work pretty well with the lotus skirts, and i bet the fronts would as well...

and yea, the manual swap matters that much.
nothing i do to this car will be a "waste of money" as you put it.

That is almost EXACTLY the color I want to paint my car, should I ever scrape up the funds to have it painted.

I've always been a big fan of the gunmetal/metallic charcoal colors - elegant, understated and sexy as hell. Maybe some nifty iridescent metallic stuff mixed in so it reflects pinks and greens or blues in different light at different angles. Subtly though, nothing ostentatious.

yay... do it do it... I love it! there were like four '07 Camry's that color in the shop all at the same time yesterday. I didn't have my camera on me and I was working (obviously) so I couldn't take any pics, but it was a sign! biggrin.gif

WOOOT car is all registered, and on the road.
first day driving it.

first impressions:

damn, stock suspension is much softer than 5 yr old (AKA worn out) kybs and sportlines!

auto is boring.

stock speakers suck.

damn, even a stock auto celica has TONS more TQ and power than a 93 civic Vx. lol

i havent had a chance to pickup the hood from big D yet, ill prolly do that on sunday.

im 90% sold on magnetic grey pearl for the color, i think it will look pretty sweet.
it will be a nice contrast to the wifeys car, which is much more bold looking compared to the grey. i think i will be going with a more "sleeper" look, if you can call it that. smile.gif

what can I do to complete the other 10% of the sale?

I was going to ask to "test drive" a new Camry to your house but I'm not sure when or if they will even let me.

never go wrong with neutral colors - it might be a tough one to put gun metal wheels on it, you don't want it to monochromatic. you can pass with bronze on it, - i've seen that scheme many times.

i think the ss3 extensions, lotus sides, spoilerless, projectors, gunmetal wheels with polished lip and MAYBE tint to match the dark theme (dunno if your into tint) and that would be one NICE car... still sleeper till the blow off =)

so, i've been driving around in the car for a few weeks, with the dented up hood and stuff..gotta love it!
this week, we finally started the bodywork.
i spent the better part of all my breaks and lunch at work on monday working on 2 dents in the drivers fender, lol, and my buddy paul (the REAL body man..LMAO) worked the rest of the drivers side dents yesterday.
today i messed with the roof and such, and paul did the passanger side dents.
the hatch on this car has rot around the window, luckily i have another in better condition to replace it with, and such. wink.gif

a quick sneak peek:

IPB Image

slowly but surely, its getting there. i still need to get off my lazy ass and pick up the hood from dustin. laugh.gif

Right, I kind of forgot it wasn't your car...but you could package it as this: throw the 3S-GTE (3rd gen, then) into her car, and fix this one up and transfer the old engine. Tell her to trade cars since her '94 is older, it's been the same for a while, and you'll fix this one up, it'll be 'newer,' and she'll have the dependable engine while you have the new-fangled commodity that hasn't necessarily been proven to work in this new car.

And if that doesn't work, steal that sucker. biggrin.gif

All of this has me confused, Jenn is Manny's wife. What difference doe's it make what engine is in this car?
If you think Jenn is some girly girl that wouldn't know the difference you must be new. So, I am not picking a fight,
I just don't understand why it matters. They can drive each others cars whenever they want so I don't think they call
it stealing.

its all good man, no offence taken at all.
naa, jenn loves HER car.
shes had it since 99, and wouldnt trade it for the world.
if anything, it would be a 3rd or 4th gen 3s that would go in her car, and i wouldnt take her 5s, we'd prolly sell alot of that stuff off to make some money back from whatever swap she wanted to do.
the way the plan is supossed to go, my car will be much more subtle than jenns, while still having enough done to it to make it a looker. wink.gif
engine plans for my car are still a wash right now, i'll cross that bridge down the road at some point.

I hear you. I'm the same way with mine and well, just compare it to most 6GC's here and it's nothing in comparison...but at least it's MY nothing. biggrin.gif

And on your car...I say SCREW the norm and keep it as is. Really. Get some insanely subtle splitters, projectors, JDM tails, and a duckbill, put some nice wheels under it and lower it, but not much. And then...BEAMS or 4A-GZE. You will have the ULTIMATE sleeper.

im really liking this movement to "hybrid" bumpers. rather then buying body kits. allows it to retain the oem look, but be different then the others on the road.

good work

Was the gt-4 bumper already messed up? Also how is the rest of the bodywork going?

Thanks guys!
I started bonding it back together last night, a few hrs or work and I'll be able to test fit it.

Yea the gt4 bumper was from the accident I was in several years ago in jenn's car.
It was damaged on the drivers side corner, the whole tab that attaches to the fender was ripped off.
Once it's ready to test fit I'll post more pics.
The rest of the bodywork is still in various rough stages.
I'm not very motivated so work happens very slowly. Lol

That's really cool!

Are you going to finish it up with GT-4 fogs and turn signals?

is that yellow primer? or filler?

looks, IDK different. Looks good, if you take the teeth out, looks like a modified TRD bumper
