I will be buying a 3sgte for my three swap coming up soon here once i get some things straightened out...
So if i were to buy a caldina 3sgte would that still be direct bolt on to my GT tranny/ engine mounts? Obviously the caldina has more power "out of the box" over a 3rd gen 3sgte but i am wondering why more people havent swapped in a caldina 4th gen 3sgte? Would the caldina motor be a better block to run if i did alot of engine work on it? ie: is it a stronger block? thanks for your help guys, i got the shop i am going to use to do the swap for me(i know ya'll think i should do it myself, but i hate working on cars ![]() ![]() So basically they are waiting for me to order the block, but i am not in a real hurry here i want to make sure i get the right motor, for right now, and for years from now... thanks for all your help guys, ya'll rock -------------------- 1 JL 1,000/1v2

Also the engine mounts are the same more people haven't swapped in the caldina engine most likely due to avaliability and price. the 2nd gen is a cheap swap and works out well. the 3rd gen is celica specific, so it alreay is set up to work just fine in a 6th gen body. (as in cooling etc, the top mount is perfect) the fourth gen has the top mount cooler that i personally would replace and it has the one peice manifold/turbo.. ( i beleive) It all depends what mods you have planned for it.. the 3rd gen in my mind is a better motor for a 6th gen swap than the caldina. its a much more direct swap in a few aspects (IC etc) would it be a better block? If you are going to do a ton of engine work i'm not sure it will matter much. although i am unfamiliar with the differences between the block on a 3rd and 4th gen 3s so i cannot tell you. If you were going for huge numbers then if the cooling channels and oil channels were better etc. then yes it might be worth it.. otherwise most likely not. personally if i were you and didn't want huge numbers, as in nice reliable power that you can possibly mod etc. i would go with the 3rd gen. if you can afford it. its set up so well to be in a 6th gen right from the start, since it comes out of the gt-4 |

Whats up Legit, im the owner of the 4th gen in the link, and it is to my understanding, the beefier motor the block ive been told is more stout and can take more there is a guy here (herballife) running 330 whp with light mods. i was running 266 whp with only a fmic. ITS A BEAST. i also have some info i found somewhere about parts that can fit on it (aftermarket)
So, as I can seen, a lot of people want to know what are the aftermarket parts are available for the ST215 3SGTE engine. Here's are some parts that are bolt on : -Adjustable cam gear (AEM, Fidanza, HKS, OBX, ATS). Any cam gear kit for 3SGTE will fit. -XS Power SSAC ST205 manifold/downpipe used with a ST205 turbo will convert the one-piece ST215 manifold/turbo to a nicely upgradeable ST205 Ct20b turbo kit. You can add to this a t3/t4 adaptor and you will be able to use a t3/t4 turbo (like I did on my ST215 swap) -Pistons, rods, crankshaft are all the same for ST205 and ST215 -The injectors are the same as the ST205 one, so, if there is a 3rd gen fuel system available, it will fit the ST215 too. -The exhaust camshaft is the same as the ST205 one. So an HKS 264/272 exhaust camshaft will bolt on. For the intake, I don't know if the HKS one would fit. Next year, when money will allow it, I'll buy a HKS264/264 camshaft kit and I'll know if the intake camshaft fit or not. -You can remove the top ATA intercooler and add a FMIC as easy as any other 3SGTE. The things that need heavy custom work is the ECU/wiring harness, ignition component (because of coil-on-plug). In my case, I used a Megasquirt II ECU with Ford EDIS wastespark ignition system and everything works nicely. The other aftermarket parts like BOV, wastegate, air intake, boost controller etc, can be fitted easily like on any other 3SGTE engine. So plz, stop saying that the ST215 engine isn't easily modifiable, there are plenty of parts that can be used to give a lil more hp to this unknown beast. also if you check the mr2 message boards tehre is a guy named ricky b on there (i think thtas his name) he is running even more hp on his caldina with no internal mods than herballife. go withthe 4th gen. i did enough worrying for the both of us when thinking about things that may or may not be available lol BTW, what shop are you going to? The wiring is a little different and you may want tweak to handle this... CHEERS! ![]() This post has been edited by easternpiro1: Mar 2, 2008 - 8:59 PM -------------------- |

What company did you end up using to import it? Just trying to get my finaces in order here, but i should be able to be ordering the clip in about 2-3 weeks, then it will just be a waiting game:/ I am just not looking forward to having to find and drive another car to work and stuff while my baby is getting a new motor...
