Dont work mad.gif

Ok i got this car and it was already like this.

I searched and searched, but this problem is totaly different than others.

I checked the wiring and found that the dimer wires have been altered. In pic the red wire connects to the green for some reason.

But here is a freakin trip.....when i put a fuse in the top left corner of the kick panel (7.5) the radio light(stock) turns off when i turn on the head lights(opposite of what supposed to happen, right?) And when i turn off the car and shut the door the radio light , and the ring around the keyhole stay lit.

Where could this problem be? I'm sure its hooked up backwards somewhere, but where could it be?

I checked behind the radio and all the wires are fine,no cuts or extra wires. When i looked down at the AC AMP i couldnt see far enough.

The dimmer gets power fine(2 positive/1 negative)not sure how to test the dimmer itself.

Could the dimmer be hooked up backwards? But its only one wire that doesnt match out of three.

Please help people ,i was trying the whole week to figure this out,and you are my last hope.IPB Image

The radio light should not shut off all of the way but when you turn you lights on it should get dimmer so it isent too bright at night.

I know that the 94-95 dimmer switch is different than the 96+, someone might of replaced yours with an earlier model one and made it work..ish.

Right but its opposite. When i turn the lights on,the radio lights turn off completely, like in a day time without lights at all.

if they did replace it, they used the 95 plug from it and wired it to the 96 wires.

So do you think that the dimmer is fine? Should i look into something else? The 95 dimmer should work with 96 right? OTOH I wonder if its possible to bypass the dimmer,to see if that will fix it.

Its just seems like there are two wires that are hooked up opposite somewhere, but ......where?

I need to look into the AMP under the radio, i havent looked there because i couldnt see that far in the dashboard. Since the radio shows backwards it must be something there right?

Anyone?

Ok,

Took appart bottom half of the dashboard, everything seems uncut,so its somewhere on the left side of the dash (past center console) somewhere in the fuse/over pedals department.

What i found was that the dimmer is not different,it came with this car because one of the uncut wires (white w green stripe) it goes to the wire harnest. In the pic above.

So i'm stuck frown.gif

Where else can i look?

I'd say check out your illumination switch(switch that turns on the headlights) wiring and check it with one of the wiring diagrams. That would be my next logical guess on this one.
