cleaning off some corrosion inside the cig lighter, and bridged the ground and + wire... radio, climate control, gauge lights, and ofcourse the cig lighter dont work now so i checked fuses.
i blew 2 fuses to my knowledge, the 15amp radio towards the bottom row in the fuse pannel by the driver left knee, and also the 7.5 amp on the top row to the left. i replaced both and now cig and radio work, but climate control and gauge lights are out. the gauges work, just no backlight* my question is, could i have missed a fuse somewhere? or possibly blown the fuses and the bulbs? if so, does radioshack carry the led's id need for that conversion everyone does/ or are they special internet order only like cold cathodes? and about how long does it take to switch out bulbs? as i quick fix, ive seen dash neon that plug into the cig lighter/ but they look so cheap. as it is now ive literally had to set my cruse control wild holding my zippo infront of the dash so i dont speed, so anything is better than that at night... my original post was better, but i think i still get the message across... i checked the search bar before posting also* thanks so much to anyone who can help -------------------- |

i am at work right now. I remember messing up one fuse, and i shorted it out. I remember it was a 7.5 amp fuse in the dash, cause i had to go buy it. I thinik is the only one. whe i replaced it the gauges lit up and the ac cluster.
sorry i dont have pics. but the 7.5 is your best bet.... change it anyways with another one see waht happens. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

Everytime I put in a new 7.5 and try driving with my backlights on, they don't work. So I tried turning down my dimmer and then back up to the highest brightness and the fuse just reblows. It is the 7.5 at the top lefthand corner that controls the gauge/climate control lighting. I've changed out the dimmer switch on mine, but haven't had a lot of time/patience to trace those wires to find my problem yet. For yours try unhooking the cig lighter and placing in a new 7.5 fuse and see if it'll work then, if not you got some searching to do to find out what is shorting/grounding out. For the cig lighter lighting, I currently use those bendable lights that are half blue half green. They are bright enough for you to read your gauges but not so bright that they blind you. Got mine at walmart for like 15 bucks and routed the wires through the dash and popped the cig part out right where my cig lighter is. I'll post up pics of the lights i'm using when i get a chance though. Good luck on resolving your issue though. -------------------- |
