hey guys.couldnt find anything real specific or detailed about this in the fourms but im looking to do a full custom exhaust on my celi. planning on doing 2.25" or 2.5" piping, not sure which would be better though.im buying those ebay headers everyone loves so much,a magnaflow HF cat converter, and a generic/universal muffler ( 2.25" inlet, 4" tip) and bypass the axle bend. only thing though, cant seem to find a flex/down pipe to replace the original size and should i run a resonator or leave the stock one, at least i think its one, its more near the gas tank and before the muffler? any suggestions or description of how you run your set up would be helpful.thanks

mine is 2.5 cat-back which means im just running 2.5 inch pipe straight back from my highflow cat and no need for flex pipe and with your headers it will be direct bolt on so yeah its just straight back from your catalyic converter no need for flex pipe

Hello,
I ran 2.5 on my celica with a race muffler (cyclone or something) and a DTM at the end. I would recommend a resonator and the flex pipe is absolutely necessary unless you want to have your headers/flanges rewelded every other week - the flex pipe prevents additional stress on the headers/piping when your engine moves/torques - my first setup I did not put a flex pipe in and despite a brace for the header it cracked the header at the collector - on a trip from Vancouver to Seattle it blew apart - not fun having to find a welder on a sunday The resonator will help with the noise and will give it a better tone, unless you like the tinny honda sound. -Terra -------------------- '92 ST185, '88 ST165, '05 Galant LS, '08 Legacy

I just came back from getting a quote from an exhaust shop, they want ~550 for 2.5" flexpipe, and i'm providing the magnaflow hi-flow cat. convertor, to the muffler which i'm also providing.
crappp, i didn't think i would need the resonator but i dont want a ricey sound so i guess i'll have to get one too. Yeah, custom exhausts aren't cheap..... |
