I don't have power locks and I'd like to get them. Is there a way that I can get them? My buddy told me that if I get a car alarm sometimes I might be able to get power locks. Does anyone know about this??
Thanks |

I do. I installed power door lock actuators on my car when I first installed my keyless entry system over a year ago, and they work great! You can find them on eBay for $5-10 per side if you do a search for "door lock actuator" or "power door lock" or something similar. That's where I got mine, and then installing them isn't very hard at all. Below is a photo of how I installed mine. The door lock actuator is the inverted "T" shaped black thing.
I'd suggest getting them, and if you need any help, just let me know. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I don't have a switch. I simply use my alarm remote to lock and unlock the car. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I think when I first installed my power door lock actuators and my Crimestopper CS-845RKE keyless entry system, it was around $75 with shipping. The actuators were $5 each or so, so with shipping I think they came out to about $20. And then the keyless entry system itself was $40 shipped off of eBay I believe. And then I bought an alarm siren locally for $15 or so because I wanted that to chirp instead of using my horn. I was happy with the setup, but I no longer have just keyless entry. I upgraded to a Autopage RS-650 alarm with remote start and many more nice features. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I might be able to do it when I've got some time. It's really pretty easy to do though. Basically, you drill two holes in your metal inside your door panel, then mount the actuator to the door, and then you attach the rod coming out of the actuator to your lock rod in the door panel. Once that's done, it's just a matter of wiring the actuators up to something.
