Just wanted to know if anyone has tried doing this? or even thought about it?

If you're talking about a S2000-style push button starter, John(Mynzeyes) has it in his car where his cigarette lighter is, and it looks sweet. I considered doing it to my car, but I already have remote start, and so I wouldn't use it much. If you want to do it, the wiring is pretty basic, and we could help you out with it.

I've got a push button starter sitting in my room waiting to be installed but the instructions are in Japanese. One of these days I will get off my ass and get it deciphered.

um..it's really easy to install. there are 4 wires to hook up, there's a ground, a constant power, and an accessory power...theeeen, the 4th is the ignition wire, which you splice into a wire in the back of the ignition cylinder, i'll have to check which wire that is tho, cause i don't recall off the top of my head...i'll explain it a little better later, when i'm not tryin to get 3" of water out of the corolla's trunk...

Yes, you'd still need to turn the key to "on" in order to start the car, with most setups anyway. And Mac, I can draw up a diagram for you when I get home a little bit later.

I was wondering, if the push button starter is installed, is it possible to start the car up normally as well as pushing the button? or can you only start the car with the push button starter. I wanted my push button starter to act like a kill switch in that I plan to install the push button starter in a "secret" place incase someone tries to steal my car with a screwdriver jammed in the ignition. ( I've seen it done)

You could wire it up either way. If you don't want to be able to start the car with a key, then you could cut the starter wire before it reaches the ignition switch, and hook up the push button starter to the other side of the wire.

Yes, it can be done. I'm not sure how though. There must be a key-in-ignition wire somewhere, because without the key in, the car's steering wheel will lock up, even if the car is on. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Here is a link to how to do this, and here is another one. Neither are for sixth generation Celicas specifically, but it gives you the basic idea.
