I like that door-catch! any idea on part number? might have to pop into a Lexus dealer The Celica part is 69410-20080 so if you want to go the dealer route, find a Lexus (or possibly a Toyota) with the chrome catch (Toyota call it "plate assy, front door lock striker") then ask the dealer to look up the part for that model and year that has the PNC 69410. It may be that the cover is PNC 69410A but that is a wild guess. But to be honest, I'd suggest ringing around scrap (junk) yards to find which currently have Lexus' then just going along with a big hammer and a decent screwdriver set with a long handled driver. what year lexus? '96 I think. The part appears to be very standard - there are dozens of part numbers for the same catch as used on our Celica. It appears that Toyota give it a unique part number for each model and year range (eg 6th Gen Celica gets a different part number to Camry, Curren, Carina etc). So I suspect the same is true for the chrome version and its cover - multiple part numbers for essentially the same part. -------------------- Davey

These were done over the Chrismas break, but due to USB lead going AWOL, only now got the pics off the camera.
Chrome door garnish/trim: Chrome handbrake button: The garnish was off a Lexus at the scrapyard. It is chrome electroplated aluminium. You have to be really careful taking it off - the aluminium is really thin and will bend really easily. I messed up taking the driver's side one off (even though I took the whole trim including the metal, rubber and felt bits home to work on), so my driver's door is still black and I'm on the lookout for another lexus. The handbrake button was the black plastic button sprayed with a chrome rattle-can paint and then buffed using a dremel buffing attachment and cutting polish. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=64512 for details of how to remove the button. -------------------- Davey

I actually did this during the week, but got around to putting the centre console back again today. Quality finish, perfect fit and really gets rid of play in the mechanism. If you still have the stock marshmallows, I would highly recommend these. Very happy. Note: they are for the stock 6th Gen. shifter base and won't fit the TRD base or 7th gen Celica. They will fit Supra MKIV and early/mid-90s Curren, Caldina, Carina ED and Corona Exiv. How-to guide: http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=93857 Also did one of those 5 minute jobs that turned into a whole day. One of my rear license plate lights had gone, so took a screwdriver to the screws holding the clear plastic cover in place but couldn't shift them - far too corroded. So ended up taking off the trunk liner and unbolting the number plate surround. Once I got it off, I discovered that where the plastic stand-off touch the metalwork, the metalwork was very badly corroded. So I ran an power extension lead from the house across the main road (no parking outside the house - only opposite), broke out the dremmel and rubbed down all the rusty bits, put away the dremmel and washed down the whole of the rear bumper including behind the rear lights which I also removed. Only to find that the dirt was hiding blisted paintwork - the rust had worked its way under the paint much further than I had expected. Out with the extension lead and dremmel again... So after more rubbing down, couple of applications of kurust and a few coats of primer, everything is pretty much back together again and I have two working license plate lights.
