I'm going to attempt to remove my oil pan today to replace the gasket, is there a how-to or guide anywhere on how to do it? It seems like there's a plate from the transmission blocking the last few bolts.

no, but for 5 bucks i can tell you how its done.. JK

its really a bit of a pain.

in summary, Drain the oil. remove the center cross member bar, rear and front mounts, the transmission support plate, (GT Manual) and then the oil pan.

Cleaning it its not bad. I have some pics, but im at work. Maybe its time to do a how to.

Whats up Matt, yeah it sucks. But thats pretty much how my chiltons says to do it. Although I find the how to's on this site to be far more helpful.

Josh, pretty much the gasket is leaking. Sucks, since I lifted up the car today, and saw that it was really more trouble then it was worth.

there is no gasket. You use toyota FIPG (form in place gasket) or high temp silicone adhesive.

just pick up a tube of the toyota black silicone. Real cheap, its what they use at the dealer for the oil pan gaskets.

yeah its a bit of a bitch getting it out, mostly cuz u have to remove that support with TWO mounts on it. but once thats out, you can pop out that little plate and go to town.

oh and a little word of advice when you are putting it back together... dont over tighten those oil pan bolts! they are real easy to over tighten and snap the heads off! and thats a pain in the aaassss.
