i have a wideband and it will not work at anything under 13.5 or so volts. so I'm thinking of building or buying a dc to dc converter something that will take battery voltage 12-14v and give me a constant 14v ....any body have any ideas??

you're looking at a much more advanced diagram than your typical car wiring diagram..

if you're looking at building something like in the 1st diagram, you'd need to be at least in your 2nd year of an electrical engineering program to fully understand it..

lolz all i can recognize are the inverter gates. those are the triangles with circles at the tip. the rest can probably just be googled, for example http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/elec07.pdf is from a google search "digital wiring diagram legend". just takes time to learn. btw CS major not exactly ECE.

ya but the hard part is knowing what kind of fuse/ inverter/resistor to use.. ur dealing with all sorts of ohms volts watts currents and polaritys and ampers, i just leave that stuff to the pros,

but if u wanna attempt it than i say go for it!
why not give it a try!

so basically the problem is that your gauge won't work unless it has over 13.5 volts? why bother since your car when it runs is 14v and when it's off the battery should be 12.5v. i don't really get the problem.

as long as your car is on the gauge will work.

is it installed?

check this out. it produces constat 12v from sources of 6 to 9. Maybe a couple of resistor changes can get your desired voltage. contact the guy...
