New member (sort of, first post atleast), owned my 1994 Celica a.k.a(Ivan, as in Crazy Ivan) for about 2½ years and just recently started to get interested in doing stuff to him, I have no bragging rights compared to all the other cars on here but I was never a car guy until I got him, until then it was just getting from A to B, anyways here he is the way he looked the day I picked him up as a pup all new (to me) :

Three things have changed since that picture.

Removed the lights in the front.
They just looked like crap and the wiring as I noticed later was done so crappy it was a miracle it hadn't shorted. This might be a dumb question but what would be the simplest way if I wanted to move my plate down to were the lights were?

Removed the wing.
It was ruined by the sun frown.gif In progress of trying to restore it now actually, any tips and suggestions helpful.

Thieves stole my tires.
So now I have 16" regular ugly rims just so nobody is going to want to steal them.

I've never regretted buying my Celica and it's not once given me any trouble whatsoever engine wise or so and that it runs fairly cheap and looks exactly like I want it is a big plus.

Welcome!!! Great shine you have on that paint thumbsup.gif

There is a pile of information in the sticky's at the top of each forum, but i guess you know most of it having had the car for a while.

and yeah.... good luck to Zlatan and the boys against Spain, will be a tough match. smile.gif

I guess you could drill the plate and use zip ties to fix it into the grille?

The wing looks like it needs a machine polish to restore it, or maybe easier just to sand down and respray.

You must be the only guy who addresses their car as a "him"...s'all good. Sucks to hear you got your wheels taken away though man. Can't wait to see the new ones, and what are you talking about bragging rights in 6gc. We're just a community who share what we have and creative ideas and provide help and reaching out to each other when in need, but the coolest part is that you'll get to meet a lot of friends and attend get-together's and stuff.

Anyway, if anything just ask. Having the black mirrors is a pretty cool idea, but paint your door handle trim red and only leave the handle part black because if people didn't know any better they'd think your car is a "base model" or something.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Sweden did not do so well yesterday sadly, that last goal during stop time wasn't fair... not fair, but on paper Spain should have owned us so atleast we put up a good fight.

As for it being a he instead of the traditional she is my girlfriends fault, my brother always names his cars stupid things based on the name of the model of his cars and so I asked him for suggestions, all were ofcourse completely retarded but then out of the blue my girlfriend said "Why don't you name him Ivan?", not having anything whatsoever to do with anything I liked it and have stuck with it since.

The wing has been worked over now, I sanded it down as smooth as possible after priming it so the color would be even and put a layer of color on it, my fear is just that it won't be as slick and shiny as I want it once it have dried and all, would it be a good idea to put clear coat ontop of the paint directly or should I work on the paint with something first?

Vacation soon which means time to work on the red rocket, will surely be using the great howtos on here for some things and probably try to tap into the collective knowledge on here when I get stuck with something.

I thought all Celica owners were moist...?

No, I'm pretty sure it is a condition suffered by adult females travelling in a Celica. Happens to both female drivers and passengers and appears to be more severe and occur more frequently the younger they are biggrin.gif. Edit: I am reminded that in extreme cases simply being in proximity to one or more Celicas can bring on the condition.

This is absolutely true, from the female Celica owner's perspective. It's been a chronic condition for years, one that was expected to subside upon the acquisition of said Celica, only to find out the condition has actually worsened in the light of a relentless pursuit to achieve the delicate balance of artistic and mechanical perfection. biggrin.gif

I wouldn't say all cars are female, But I would say the Celica is female. I call my car she because it's got nice round curves, it's kinda sporty without being ballsy, has enough power to go fast but not enough to keep up with the big boys, girls think they're fast boys think they "go all right". Yep I'd say Celica is a she. To me she is the nicest car that I could afford to purchase, run & maintain that met my requirements in a car of being 1. Toyota, 2. Coupe, 3. 2 Litre engine.

Anyways, Good thing you removed those lights they look funny. Lol. And welcome aboard! Post more pictures
