So i am sanding my spoiler i bought for my celica, it was painted a darker blue than my car so i am going to sand it all and paint it to match my car. SO....
How far down do i need to take it when i am sanding it? All the way down or just enough to wear it is almost to the primer? thanks for the help -------------------- 1 JL 1,000/1v2

If the paint that's on there is in reasonable/good condition, all you will need to do is key the paint with a scotchbrite pad or similar, prime & spray.
If the paints not good, sand using 800-1000 grit paper until you get a smooth enough surface, then prime & spray. -------------------- Regards

Opps ya the paint was fine... i went after it with 60 to take all the gloss and everything off to get it as bare as possible oh well, just more paint time for me i guess... and i could only find grit up to like 440... guess i need to go shopping again:( -------------------- 1 JL 1,000/1v2

........yea your gonna ATLEAST want to get it decently smooth with the 400, preferably 800 final.....
as long as you sand down to the base coat it should work out for you... |
