Exhaust certificate in SO CALI!?!?!, So cops wont hassle you Options

Hey I read an article in the San Gabriel Tribune (in so cali ::west covina: that this guy was always hassled by the cops until he did something about it. He went to the dmv and got his exhaust rated. His exhaust meets the standard noise requirements and got a certificate for it. Now when he gets pulled over he just pulls out his certificate and shows the officer this and they can't give him a ticket for his exhaust being so loud because it meets the requirements!! Has anyone else have heard of this???

I read that in California you can do this. The other day I was looking for Washington's exhaust noise laws, but all I could find was stuff about California.

Here in Yakima where I live, the cops give out plenty of exhaust tickets, but everyone in the know gets them dropped. Since the city doesn't actually test your car's exhaust noise level, you can go to court and say that "I'm innocent until proven guilty, and you have no proof that my exhaust noise level exceeds 95 decibels at 20 inches behind the car." and they pretty much have to drop it.

That's cool man..here in my city West Covina..They West Covina cops are tough..they are one of the highest at giving tickets to just anyone. They did a poll for this and they give tickets out more down my street..so it sucks i have to control my noise level but soemtimes i just can't help it b/c i dont have one of those radar dectectors lol...but i have been getting nice cops so it's cool they just let me go. But my g/f has been getting tickets for no reason and its stupid b/c shes been found guilty and i've been to court with her and all these people that got tickets the judge found guilty..even though they prove not guilty..which sucks! I swear dude its a conspiracy! They just want our money!
