Ya man people bash hondas but they are pretty mean. Maybe not off the line but they will come screamin by you with that topend power. Atleast with vtec engines, the stock b engines I dont think have much to brag about.

LOL, Yeah, thats what I thought. He's doing the swap so he'll be able to keep up with another friend of ours who just bought a 2002 WRX, but I still dunno if he'll be able to or not... tongue.gif

First, a type R (JDM) is a B18C. Second, it'll eat you alive. 210 horses I believe plus great top end pull. This combined with it LSD pull kill a 5sfe. The beams 3sge is a different story. Black TopI'm almost cetain will beat the type R. Red Top will probably beat it, if not atleast run neck and neck.

b18c5 is the Integra type-r motor...not the Civic type-R. The civic type-R, I believe is the b16b1 or something like that... then again...it's not clear which type-R motor is being swapped...=/

Here's the engine codes:

B16A (JDM Civic SiR, USDM 99+ Civic Si) 160hp 8k redline
B16B (JDM Civic Type-R) 170hp 9k redline
B18C1 (USDM 94+ Integra GSR) 165-170hp 8k redline
B18C5 (JDM/USDM Integra Type-R) 175-180hp 9k redline

Or something in that neighborhood...

Now to compare...

Beams Redtop
200hp (supposedly...closer to 190-197) 7600 or 7800 redline (I forget)
Beams Blacktop (RWD Altezzas only)
210hp (dual VVT-i) not sure about the redline... probably same as redtop

The yota motors definately make more power and most definately make more torque, 150-160 ftlbs (in useable range 3-4K rpm) compared to 110-117 ftlbs (in unuseable range 6800 rpm)...however, I'll still bet the honda's will give the Beams motors a run for their money just because the gearing on the hondas are typically so much better.

yes, that is correct, he is doing a JDM Civic Type R swap, this means it's the B16B motor which has approx, 175 crank hp and around 118 lb-ft of trq. and a 8900 redline. It's basically a racing engine, strong lightweight internals.

I didnt think the 5SFE would be much competition, but with the 3SGTE, thats another story owned.gif

The B16B is rated at 185hp @ 8200.

I kill those EX's all the time...as well as RS and GS Eclipses...but I raced a guy with a Si and B16B swap...he totally whomped on me...I knew he'd beat me didn't think he'd kill me and wanna make me go dig a hole in the ground. That's with my Celi tho not RX7...

Definitely go 3SGTE if you wanna for sure beat them. It'd really depend on how each of you drive if he had the B16B and you had either the red or black top. It will depend on the launch and shifting ability as well as clutch/gas control....all the typical things that mater most when dragging.

Sorry, just blabbering.
