another intake idea, has anyone tried this?, sounds plausible or not? |

heres an idea.. first get an sri with heatshield
second, buy one of these off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Supe...sspagenameZWDVW then route the tubing so that it goes from the fender area and the tube ends up facing towards the filter. that would ensure cold air gets to the sri with about 2psi right? but without forcing air into your engine. would this work? |

Those things are crap. All they do is RESTRICT air flow.
Ask yourself this, if it only cost $35 to make an engine more powerful, do you not think they would be on every car from the factory?!!?!? Don't waste your money. -------------------- |

Intake doesn't make any real power but to make your car louder. Not worth it.

i dont think he means hooking the little scam plastic supercharger up to the air intake, but just mount it in the fender so taht it pulls the cold air from the fender into the engine bay and towards the intake.
but still, i think a car traveling at anything over 10 miles an hour would get more air into the engine then putting one of those things into the fender... but who knows... i can tell you though, i'm not gonna try it~! |

Why not run that with the filter pointing on the stock tube vent side and the other side run a tub from the bottom of the car. Sounds like a lot more air to me. Then again there are many factors that make a car more powerful. you can get more air but if it can't make use of it, its useless. Only so much air can enter the throttle body and one time. Your ECU will only tell the car how much to go in at a maximum to accept. Air/fuel ratio has to be balanced. Most of all, don't forget tuning the car is a crucial as well.

The air pressure hitting your car when you get up to speed is more than the 2-3 psi that the blower would make. So it's a good idea, if you don't plan on moving past idle.

i understand that it doesnt work, i merely wanted it to blow colder air up, but since the air pressure generated from just driving is more than 2-3psi, then theres no point
i was just wondering if there was a good way to get colder air higher into the intake area, but this idea is dismissed now -_-; |

This idea was a dud. But it was a good attempt at pioneering something.
