I'm looking to replace the underdrive pulley in my 1996 AT200. I have quite a massive sound system though, so I don't want anything that limits the power to my alternator. If anything, the same size as stock as long as it's lighter. Any ideas?

None... "Underdrive" means to "underdrive"... which means smaller pulley.

Okay, let me rephrase. I'm looking for something the same size with a lighter rotational mass.

Okay, let me rephrase. I'm looking for something the same size with a lighter rotational mass. Hmmm....Less weights = less stress on the motor? This is what you are trying to accomplish without changing the actual size of the pulley? I doubt you will even find anything other than OEM (not saying you won't, just saying good luck). -------------------- |

Nengun has the C-ONE pulley for the 3sge/3sgte, but i'm not sure if it will work on a 5s.. but it definitely won't work on a 7a.
....i just noticed it's only 640g! that's pretty damn light... -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Get a light flywheel. Reducing pulley weight is minuscule compared to the flywheel, where you can shave 1/2 the weight.

APC makes an underdrive pulley made out of CNC machined aluminum for the 7AFE motor. I have one on my car and it is MUCH lighter than the stock one...it took me a while to find the right belt sizes because their belt guide is incorrect, now if you do have a big I.C.E system then you are right you may not want to underdrive your alternator, unless you replace it with a more powerful one in order to make up for the loss.
BTW i think if you are looking for power and engine response increases, this mod is well worth it. Good luck with the decisions. -------------------- 1994 GT Hatchback 1994 ST Coupe 1988 Corolla Wagon All-Trac 1999 Corvette 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo |

If I can't find anything I guess I'll get them made custom. My sound system is pushing a little over 3000 watts and my headlights already dim when it's bassing. |

I wonder if the celica alternator is really any good anyway... I mean, it looks kinda small. There is a different one installed in the camry I think. I think I'd like to look at bigger and more reliable alternatives. What else is possible? What about an alternator pully with extra cooling blades on the other side? Or what is the largest alternator available for this?
