For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the wiring harness on the speaker loose. All I need to do is bridge the wires that the old speaker connected to with the new harness on the new speakers. People who've done this, please chime in.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking.
For the rear speakers, they used the same plug as the front ones right? All I did was cut the existing cables and re solder them to the positive and negative terminals on the speakers themselves. That way the speakers are still removable and you don't have to solder inside the car. If you're rewiring them completely, then that's a different story. You'll have to pull apart the bottom moulding and carpet. -TC -------------------- Live your life for yourself. Don't hold back for anything or anyone.

I want to say that the rear speaker connector is diff. But its been awhile, I Just remember it being more of a PITA than the fronts to get off. What do you mean by harness exactly? I hear harness and im thinking of a slew of wires. If your trying to hook up new speakers, just do what razor said. Cut, strip and solder (or use the wires provided with the new speakers)

Thanks guys, I figured it out in the meantime...the old speakers will go back in if the car goes, I'll find a way to reconnect them.
What I meant was how to separate the speaker's existing harness from the housing. The harness from the speaker was connected to the wiring in the car in a weird way, and I couldn't get it off for a while. I ended up cutting the wires so I could connect the new speaker's harness. |
