So.. as part of the full disassembly of the interior... genius let the rear seat belt fully retract and we're pretty sure that its locked in that state for safety? / reuse concerns? Anyone know how to get the seat belt out of this state or if thats it... one and done no mas?

I've got a 93 MR2 (I'm guessing the seat belt hardware is probably very similar if not the same) and this happened to me one time. I found that there was a ball bearing inside, which you could see through the clear plastic area of the side of the rolling mechanism. I'm assuming it's meant to keep the seatbelt locked in case the car rolls over, etc. I had to balance that out while slowly pulling on the belt. It finally came loose. You'll have to look around and see if there is a safety release switch on it as well. Good luck! |

it happens any time the belt case is not in the position it was installed in the car. bolt it back up and you should be able to pull it back out.
