Dilemna! ES300 available to me for $750-1000, Bad coil - whoopty sh*t Options

This is Celica related - read on.

OK I got an extreme dilemna here. i already have my GT2 which is my weekend car/money pit. So as to not drive that everyday I just bought a LS400 with low milage and all the options for my DD. It needs rims, suspension and paint. But today along comes a black ES300 from a friend that just needs an ignitor coil [Which I have laying around] to run great. Good paint, great tint, stereo etc - It's got the 1mz-fe. I'm half tempted to buy it and garage both the other two cars and just DD this one -or- buy this one and a Celica shell and build a v6 Celica.
On the other hand - don't I have fcukin enough cars as it is? IDFK what to do.

I did consider flipping it - that's a def option. Unfortunately our new car tax laws will force me to pay the tax on what the car should be worth vs the cheap price I paid for it. In other words - 10% of whatever that car with those options and that mileage is worth from KBB - more govt BS.

I do not follow any of that logic whatsoever. Hell no would I EVER sell the Celica and why would I downgrade from a LS to an ES? The true dilemna for me is letting a perfectly good deal like that go - especially with dreams of a second swapped 6gc in my head - v6 this time.

Car-ma = Car karma. Ie. the parts you give away will make those crazy cheap deals for the parts you need come your way. You screw someone over on parts - you're gonna have an accident in yours etc.

According to Websters it's Dilemma or Dilemna - same definition.

My first inclination is to say pick it up and hang onto it for a few months while you decide what to do for sure. I think you should swap it into the Celi. But if you decide you just don't have the time/interest/whatever to do that, you can always fix it and flip it. So what if 10% goes to the gov't? Not that I think they should get it, that's BS, but from the principal of it, it's worth the 10% to have been able to decide for yourself what to do with it rather than let the opportunity pass you by. If you decide to swap it in, you can always start parting out what you won't need from the Celi NOW so you can raise capital for the swap. You won't come out even or anything, but if you part the remainder of the ES, I bet you'll come out pretty damn close, or at least compared to what it would've otherwise cost.

Buy it and sit on it a few months.

i say buy the thing i work with those cars all the time..ive seen rusty a$$ es300! body is gone but man that engine will last for ages if you take care of it. but yeah just do it! if you dont want it sell the thing, either make money or just live with 5 cars haha or buy it and do the swap.

Please everyone understand - if I decide to swap it won't be into my current Celica - it would be into another GT shell. Just so's we're clear on that.

Hell another acceptable option IMO is to sell to anyone on here - anybody need a good car?

IDK man, It's a damn good deal, But you really dont have the room & IDK about the depth of your pockets to run a DD, a track-star, & a swap project (requiring 2 frames ) Seriously, that's 4 parking spots right there. I dont think you can do a part out in that parking lot either So... It sounds freaking awesome, but IMHO you should rather flip it, or pass and put the same money into the GT2.

Again, i mean no disrespect, but with you just getting the LS and everything, maybe it would be best if you let this one slide. Or 700 fliped for 7000, and then fix my sh!t

I'm gonna keep listening to you guys - all of it has been sound advice so far and I'm gonna sleep on it. So far it looks like I'll either be hooking someone up or flipping it to a stranger for some $$$.
