I am away at college and don't drive my car that often anymore . I noticed that when I drove it during thanksgiving break that the ABS failed to work when i had to stop quickly, luckily I didn't rearend the car in front of me. The Front Right Tire locked up, and then after that i noticed that when I normally apply my breaks that the Front Right Wheel seems to have more breaking pressure than the Front Left Wheel. I have gone through the electrical part of the system and can't find the problem. The ABS light is NOT on. My first assumption was the the ABS computer has failed, then i thought that the ABS module had died but either of those would make the ABS light come on. Also the ABS solenoids are fine and working. I plan on having the issue diagnosed Toyota. Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem?

Check your brake fluids yet? ABS doesn't always work perfectly, because my wheels still tend to lock up before it gets to a stop, but your situation is obviously worse.

You probably just have a sticking caliper. If your ABS light is not on and there is a signal to all the sensors then the ABS ECU is working fine and your ABS control system is not the problem. Also, if there are no ABS codes in the system (i.e. the light is not on) bringing it to a dealership to diag will most likely be a waste of money.

None of the calipers are sticking, and all fluids are up to par.

ok, so unless your ABS light on the dash is not working properly, the ABS control system is not the problem. If the ABS ECU is a problem the light would come on and set a code for the ABS control solenoid.
By saying the right front wheel seems to have more braking pressure under normal conditions, how did you determine that? Does it pull when you brake? -------------------- |

I can hold the Steering wheel completely straight, (the car doesn't need an alignment) and when I apply to brake to stop normally, the car will pull to the right. My father and i also spent 2 hrs bleeding the brake system thinking that could have been the problem. I just remembered that there is what I think may be a proportional valve behind the engine on the firewall, could that be causing part of the problem?

thanks for all the help, im going to be driving the car again this coming weekend and im going to see if there is anything else that might help me figure out the issue. I also have to replace a cv boot and clutch so I will look at the calipers at the same time.
