Which is the best short shifter to get anywhere or ebay. TWM ones I read are made for the 6th gen but are 150 bucks roughly. I heard that 7th gens fit as well. What I am looking for is a plug n play, no mods, reliable, working short shifter. Any suggestions? THanks!

Ok so are there two different TRD shift knobs? One says it fits the newer celica and another says it doesn't but I want the one that flares forward but I think I bought on ebay the one that doesn't compare the two pics. One looks longer than the other.

the one i bought

the one that looks better

7th gen works fine. no problems. They say the TWM ones a slightly shorter but who knows. and the 7th gen ones are WAY cheaper, easy quick mod.

I just got done looking some stuff up and asking questions yesterday. A 7th gen short shifter will work, and you can get one off of Ebay for like $30. It's a matter of popping a few clips off and takes about an hour, from what everyone told me. I'll let you know as soon as I get mine thumbsup.gif

TRDproven, there are 2 leather TRD knobs that I know of. There is one that is just a round ball, then another one that is more well-known that is shaped more like our factory shift knobs.

Can someone tell me on the auto shift surround what is the difference from the manual one? I'm completing a conversion right now so I'm wondering if I need clips or a trim holder if thats what it needs for the shift boot. Or I can velcro it.

Judging from the pictures on ebay, the auto and manual shift knobs differ only at the base, where the auto has the aluminum piece at the bottom and manual does not.
If you read closely though, the auto knob is made only for cars with e-shift gated shifters like in the is300. I'm assuming this is because there is no release button on the knob to move the shifter into and out of Park.

Go to this link and look at the picture of it installed, and then read the text below it to see what I mean.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-...%3A1|240%3A1318

To make this work on your auto you would have to make your own release button somehow.

what about the shift surround, since mine was originally automatic what would I use to hold the shift boot? Does shift boots come with the piece that holds it down?
