Not exactly new, I've had it since the summer, but I'm just recently getting into it.
I got a white 1994 Celica ST hatchback.

Here's what's in my mind.

I recently slid into a pole in the snow here, I detached the passenger fender from the front bumper and messed up the fender, so I need to get a new one of those.
I need to get a new passenger tail light (broken when I got it, still lights and works, but there's a crack in it that I had to cover with the light tape).
There is a soccer ball sized dent that is rusted in the back driver panel, a crease/dent in the driver door, and rust along the side and bottom of the door on the driver side (all from when I bought it, but it ran fine and was cheap so I was fine with it)

It's got an automatic tranny, and is, as stated before the ST. It has 137k miles on it now.
This is farrrrrr to slow for my liking.

What I want to do is put in an engine from a GT, preferably a manual transmission, but I don't really have the time or money to worry about that so realistically the auto will do, so long as it's a larger engine.
Like I said I'm new to this so stay with me here, what type of engine am I looking into for this, and what would the cost be for it? My dad has a few mechanic friends so I'm sure they'll teach me along the way and help me put in it and all.
Once I do that I plan on fixing all the body work needed, and painting it, most likely black.

So I'll keep this updated as I go. I need all the help I can get, I'm 17 and my old work place closed down so I'm working on a new job, no one around is hiring though so I'm on a very very short line of cash for this, so any donations are GREATLY appreciated haha.

Thanks for taking your time everyone.

hey mate, welcome to the site!

because you want to do engine and transmission conversion it shouldn't be too hard, but if you just wanted an engine the 5sfe out of the GT wouldn't fit onto the ST gearbox as they use different series engines.

you have a few options you could find a 4age somewhere and an ST gearbox and put that in which might be easier, the 4age should connect right up to your auto box.

Or you could find A GT 5sfe AND gearbox, with this you'd probably be better sourcing a 3sge which connects up to a GT's transmission and has a fair bit more power.

bearing in mind a lot of these engines might have too much power for the gearbox/diff, generally only bad when you have alot of power with a turbo etc. people correct me if I'm wrong haha.

Not that I have done it, but I read that st guys drop 4age or 4agze in. Besides, why would you want to drop a 5sfe into it? I have one, trust me, not that fast either. But do some searches and it'll give you a better idea.

It's really not much faster? Damn I just figured since it wasn't going to be the GT4 and 4 wheel drive it would just drop in, shows how much I know haha, so a 4age with an ST gearbox should be able to go right in? How many horses does that have stock? I want to say the ST has 110 stock. I'm looking to jump this up hopefully a little above 200hp.

think the highest powered 4AGZE has 165 hp (127 kW)

here you go 4AGZE Ebay

I'm sure you can get them cheaper than there too.

Thanks Euphoria, the only question I have is, will that drop right into the ST without modifications?
If not which engines will? Or with minimal modifications?

Seven, theres a section on this site that has the info your looking for. As far as what will fit and what will not click this! Keep in mind though that anything is possible with the right amount of time and money, but for most of us thats not a luxury we can afford.

Alright, thanks for the link
I'm looking into people parting out cars trying to get the gas cap door, fender, and tail light.
Once I get these and in the spring I'm gonna get the body work done, the 2 dents pulled, and the car painted.
I'm going to go with a solid color, any suggestions, around here I've seen a black, red, and teal, then my white one. I don't really like the white though.
Any ideas on a color? I'll go from there. I do like the black, but I'm thinking a more obnoxious color would work better haha

Edit: Wow that link gave me A LOT of info, sorry I didn't do a search for it, I was just excited to get this up and get some input.
...so it is possible to put the 3S-GTE into my ST, but probably more of a pain in the ass and a lot more money, so realistically 4A-GZE is probably a better bet...

Yes it is very possible to put a 3SGTE into an ST wink.gif, my car is an ST thumbsup.gif and I am running the 3SGTE. You will need around 3000-5000$ to put a 3SGTE into your car (doing all the work yourself). You will be on the steeper side of $3000-5000 tho because you will need a transmission as the 7A transmission doesn't bolt up to it. You will also need to do a Manuel transmission conversion because there isn't an auto trans that will hold the power.

I will find out when I hit the dyno next weekend.....But I am expecting 300WHP @ +/- 10whp. The numbers that you and others have been listing are flywheel Hp numbers, so if my car makes 300whp that would be about 350hp (flywheel hp)

Soon enough I will be ditching the pea shooter CT20b turbo that comes stock with the GEN3 3SGTE(my personal choice over the GEN2 3SGTE) and upgrading to a bigger turbo, I will then make between 340-350whp (which is about 400 flywheel HP) and still all on the Stock ECU, stock injectors, stock intake manifold, Stock EVERYTHING really besides the turbo. biggrin.gif.
