Hey folks, I finally signed up on 6gc after a long time lurking pressure2's howto 5s-fte post.
I have a 5th gen GT coupe, that I daily and is my mild project (suspension and appearance parts). Anyway, part of what brought me over here was the desire for a 6th gen ST hatch, and I had some general questions. When did the 6th gens get OBD-II? Is there factory wiring for fog lights on the ST trim level? Was there a premium sound system (like the System 10 on 5th gens)? If so, is there wiring for that in the ST? What's the lug pattern on an ST? Are all wheel disc brakes available? If not, is it an easy swap? Also, what do the ST's typically weigh in at? Basically I'm looking for the "best" ST to upgrade to a GT4 bumper hood and swap a 2ZZ-GE into. |

not that i know of yes there was a premium sound but not in the st 5x100 not in an ST, but you can swap over the GT brakes, and the front brakes are smaller on the st as well hatches weigh 2600 IIRC ..........basically since the 2zz swap is going to need the same amount of custom Fabrication just get a GT with the 8 speaker set up if you can FIND one:) |

I've seen threads about guys replacing 4a-fe/ges with 2zz's all they have to do is machine one bolt hole to be different, and then rest of the mounts and such line up just fine.

Agree 96 and above
If you had the 96-99 that came with it factory. However, some cars I did did not have fogs but the wiring, harnesses, and switch, were already there just waiting. Premium sound in the GT fully loaded if I recall same as a 5th gen and 6th gen 5 lug agree swap over from a GT agree 2600 for hatch -------------------- 94 Celica GT

if your going to spend that much money on a swap, go w/ 3sgte(who knew??) or a more rare v6. unless fabrication is a problem. if it is, i'd go w/ a 4age of some fashion.
but then AFAIK, NO ONE has done a 7th gen engine in the 6th gen, so hey, do it to be "original." BUT, if you're going to get a 2zzge, i'd rebuild w/ lightweight items, rods, fly, anything you can find. And def replace the oil pump w/ an HIGH quality aftermarket one, since that is the weak point in these engines IMO that would make a pretty quick NA and fun to drive car This post has been edited by stephen_lee: Feb 3, 2009 - 6:47 PM -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated. Same basic process for a ST I'd imagine. |
