TMIC Intercooler 3SGTE, Water injected 3rd Gen? Options

Does the 3rd Gen 3SGTE have a water injected intercooler?

And if thats the case there was a post before that stated a Twin Intercooler which is kinda creative.

But it was explained that it would be too hard for the turbo to suck in air from both, but if the 3rd Gen has Water Injected...would it not be a little more helpful if you had a real small FMIC to keep the turbo cool with air and water, and the small intercooler would not effect the lag as much? Possibly add a sprayer too.

heh....just babbling, it just seemed interesting with this case and since I got a 3rd gen 3SGTE being put into my car.

i thought that you decided against the 3s-gte swap because california laws and w/e dont allow it?

it would be kinda pointless and hard to get the piping for that configuration

also having a fmic doesnt cause lag

yeah Water to air....does it still suck in air? since it turns water to air?

Anyways I went with the 3SGTE cuz it was the best thing to do and I could probably get around the laws for a while.

And I thought intercoolers can cause lag, I am not sure of the reason but I think if a turbo is not that big and the intercooler was too big it can cause lag...not sure, its just some one who makes intercoolers told me that when I was asking for a FMIC.

ok here is a quick draw up of how a turbo and intercooler works

you can see the filter it sucks air into the turbo ...the browner part of the turbo has a wheel that gets spun by exhaust air exiting the engine then in turn is connected to another wheel (silver part) which does two things at once. 1st thing sucks in air at a faster rate by using the fins on the end of the blades on the wheel. then blows or pushes the air through the turbo through the piping into the intercooler which while you are driving is being cooled by the oncoming air then out the other side (sometimes same side) back into the intake manifold.


on the tmic its the same thing just that the intercooler is cooled by water than the air outside.

I would think that upgrading the turbo from stock form that the more air the turbo puts out the more air that needs to be cooled. Thus you can only have such a large TMIC before it cant be effective(the hood scoop is only so big) thereby moving to FMIC allows you to have a larger area where the air is being drawn in. But as too keeping the same stock turbo it shouldnt be a priority becuase the air being drawn in through the TMIC is suffice.

I could be wrong though.

the air for a turbo IS NOT drawn in from the intercooler

When I said "drawn in" thought it was apparent I was talking about the the intercooler drawing in the cooler outside air to be cooled. Im sure 98% of us know what an intercooler does, cooling incoming air, not the supply of air to the turbo. thanks

obviously thats means that you think by having a bigger fmic that you have a larger area to draw in air..doesnt matter how big or small the ic is.


ok to the question that i think needs answered here


a tmic is good...the w/a is very good, its just your personal preference i suppose...

fmic would probably have a little better airflow and be cooled better than the tmic while driving.



edit: sorry about that its just that when you talk about drawing air in it usually means that said device is the thing thats sucking in the air
