Went to the track tonight. Ran against a guy with an 87 supra with a 1jz in it. Looked kinda beat up lol. Beat him off the line but he ran me down and only won by a few yards maybe. I forget the times, it started raining and they ran everyone off....bummer. I had lots of fun though. Everyone was impressed with my little ST. I really wanna 3S-GTE now though HEHE! Just figured I'd share my little story. BTW, you gotta keep in mind this supra had no turbo and was....as i said....a little beat up lol. But in my mind i still almost beat a supra!

That's cool. What time did you run, and at what MPH?

I dont know the times, there printer wasn't working and I was so hyped I didn't look. I'll ask my friend if he saw tomorrow. I only ran once and then it started raining and they ran everyone off. This was my first time to the track and actually get to run my car. I'm still kinda shaking over it! SO MUCH FUN! It's kinda scary when you pull up and a supra pulls up next to you....let me be the first to tell you!! But my celica held her own! I talked to the guy afterwards and he was very suprised my car had that in it. I was suprised his car was so slow! Nah, I'm just messin.

Haha, it's even worse to pull up to the line and look over to see a modified Viper GTS next to you. It beat me by more than five seconds in the quarter. I still had so much fun at the track though. I ran my car five or six times that night.

I never understood why people say our cars are slow... I dont know about ST's, but I feel my GT is pretty nice. Its no TT Supra but its got a little zip.

I totally agree on that....my GT feels pretty quick according to the all reliable butt-meter and i definately wouldnt say that its slow. Numbers dont really serve it justice too well unfortunately....I mean its not amazingly fast like some cars ive been in, but just enough to keep you entertained and not kill yourself in the process. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

Yea, I have some friends with some bad a$s cars. Like a eclipse gs-t and a 95 camaro ss pushin 400+ hp. Several older camaros and an 94 vette. And when they drive my car they love it. They say its so quick. And they are used to driving 13 (camaro)-15 second cars. So its really great to get compliments from them.

that has to do with the gearing and power band of the car. our celicas may not have a lot of power but they do have their power where it counts. 6gc's are not slow, when they were in production they were faster than most cars. they still are faster than most. oh, and nothing is like a supra TT. such a great car. it has to be the best car i have driven aside from the couple minutes i spent behind the wheel of a viper rt/10. the 350z also comes in close. but the Supra TT has to be the best car in all areas. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

hehehe, i raced one last monday I never left its side, that guy was getting pissed off.... i even took off on his a few times. Then when i went to the track i F'd up on my start, and the guy didnt even let me line up right. Anyway the G35 got at least a 3 car lead on me then i ended up right on his back tire when we crossed the finish line.. David |
