So what happened to the guy making the kits for the heater control lights. I need to do my clock and heater controls but don't want to just jump in not knowing what the heck I'm doing. I'd like to change them to blue to match the rest of the interior. Anyone know what type/size the lights are inside there. Oh yeah what type of bulbs are in the ignition key and cigarette lighter ring?

Charlie was the one who was selling the kits, but now he's back in school, plus he's working full time, rebuilding a GT-Four, paying off his brand new turbo Protege, and a whole lot more, plus he's trying to sell his car if he hasn't yet. So he's hardly ever online.
The lights inside there are small LEDs that have to be soldered in, and unless you know how to solder fairly well, Charlie and Doggy don't recommend doing this. As far as the ignition key and cigarette lighter ring, I'm not sure, as I don't have either of those in my car. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

So what type of bulbs/LEDs are you using? Do you have any pictures of how its coming along? Iknow that most of the time the brightness of LEDs isn't adjustable. If you apply more voltage to them they'll be brighter but who know's for how long. -------------------- Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |

well i have been messing with resistors they light up but not really brite so im thinkink of getting other resistors and see if they'll gget briter
reason for resistors - because i have a short in my board and it keep frying out the 3 leds that light up the whole box so i made my own circuit ... just cant seem to get them ass brite as the other leds ........ (leds that Isoldered to the curcuit board) I'm using clear wide angle leds from radio shack they light up red .. defgeph....... -------------------- I will return one day. |

I haven't been inside of the heater control box so I'm having a hard time grasping what you're saying. Are there only 3 leds that light the whole thing plus the ones for the individual switches? I can deal with the individual switches being green. is there enough room to put in one of those super mini neons you can get from an auto parts store and just wire that up to were the 3 leds were, or is there more going on in there than I thought? I can't seem to find any 12v blue leds and that's the color I'm really after. That looks pretty nice! I edited your post by the way, so that all three photos show up. You'll have to tell us exactly what you bought and did.

this is what i used to make my lights red
Wide Angle LEDs 1.7 volt - 20mA - 800mcd Resistors 470-Ohm - 1/2 Watt - 5% tolerance here is a pic of the packages Does anyone have any suggestions for other resistors that would make the leds even briter? Like those little led key chains ! I hope this info helps you guys out ! If you decide to do this mod be careful with the curcuit board and take ur time doing it. This took me three times and I'm still not done but I'm like 99% done with it. I wasnt careful with the board lol but now I am If you have any questions let me know defgeph This post has been edited by defgeph: Oct 15, 2003 - 12:45 AM -------------------- I will return one day. |
