I think its something to do with whoever changed your brake pads last, cause when i first got my car I had new pads and they squeeled for about a year until I changed them, then the squeel stopped.

ok jack up your car and take the wheels off.. and clean off your rotors and break pads.. just use bread cleaner and a compressed air can... that should make the nosie stop... if it doesn't then it might be time to change your breakes...

when is the last time you had your breaks changed?

well i just got it inspected lately. they had to fix the rear brakes. the noise comes from the front. wouldnt they have noticed a problem in the front when they inspected the car?

just cause breakes are making noise doesn't mean somthing is worng with them.. inspection just cares that they are working properly

there is stuff called "no squeak" or "Quick stop" sold for like a dollar at auto stores, gos on the back of pads to prevent squeaking. I just changed my brakes and there loud as hell cause I didnt want to spend the extra $4. Go's away eventually... but if their not "new" then it is also a warning thing that tells u that they are low.

well...i work at an auto place n do brakes n all that good stuff for a living....sometimes if people just slap on rotors n pads on a car it could end up squeaking. usually what u need to do with new rotors is what they call cutting them. What they usually do is put it on a brake lathe so it could even out the rotor to take out the lateral runout from it, meaning it's side to side motion. Mechanics do that to insure that there isnt any, assuming that rotors have been sittin on shelves with other rotors on top of them so it's like an insurance thing to make sure there isnt any runout on the rotor cause of that. Also like what other people have said is to clean out ur pads n rotors cause dust could cause the squeaking too. Also Moly lube the back of the pads as well. you could get Moly Lube at any auto parts store.

You're talking about "turning" the rotors, right? Or am I thinking of something totally different?

As for the brake squealing issue... you can find a lot of topics that discusses this by searching on google... here are some links that you may find useful in addition to what everyone else stated...

http://www.allpar.com/fix/brakenoises.html

If you want more... just go on Google.com and search for "brake squealling"...
