Ok if I am correct the 3sgte has a top mount intercooler, hence the gt-4 hood having the center vent. Now I am saving for the 3sgte swap, and purchasing my body kit soon. I want teh erebuni z glide. Now, will i have a problem with the intercooler needing air? So my real question is, how much and where can i purchase the gt-4 hood that doesnt need the bumper to not have the gap? Or can I keep my stock hood and not even worry about it. I guess my three options are:
1) z glide and gt-4 hood 2) gt-4 hood and bumper (hella $$) 3) Just z glide kit (im hoping this will work, if not, how hard is it to make the tmic a fmic?) |

You can always buy a C-one GT4 style hood for a ST-204 or you can go FMIC without the hood. -------------------- =(

Actually -
the 6th Gen GT4 has a W/A top mount intercooler, and becasue of that the 6th gen GT4 hood actually has exhaust vents and not a scoop to force air over the intercooler... So... if you plan on buying a 2nd gen 3SGTE with a top mounted A/A intercooler you will need to either fasion a proper scoop to force air over it, or break down and get a FMIC, unless of course you get your hands on a W/A intercooler. If your cash strapped you can run low boost (6-8 psi) without an intercooler until you sort that potentially $$$ problem out. -------------------- -Mike

You could get C-One's aluminum hood that looks like the one above, but it's $1012 from JapanParts.com, and the price probably doesn't include shipping. You could also have a shop mold in some custom hood vents onto your stock hood as well. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

you can get the hood right from your toyota dealer... thats where i got mine!
the hood vent sits over the exhaust manifold. it is ment to let the hot air vent out of your car (this would be all the extra hot air caused by the 3sgte turbo). the 6th gen gt4 comes with a top mount water to air intercooler. thets why there is no scoop on the gt4 hood. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

if your talking about the rear of the hood being raised.. that is done intentionally to help hot air leave the engine compartment... its actually really easy to do and does help - I plan on doing it when I take it to the track but only then... also I will say the scoop on the hood look nice.. would look better if molded and painted but still looks interesting. Blkgt.. you could just get a FMIC and end all your probs. you can get one from TJN115@aol for 230-250ish and it is perfect for the celica.. It is 30"x6"x2.5" and can be mounted to the bottom of your front bumper support and fits like a dream! the only downfall is that it comes with a slighly rough polish to it... but this can be fixed with a good powder coating job for 40-50 bucks Edit - I still have my custom hood... dont think Jay12-14psi is gonna end up getting it due to he's havin trouble finding time to come get it which I dont blame him. I am giving him until the end of the month and then it will be up for sale. It is a GT4 replica hood and the scoop is moved farther back than the GT4 hood so it would help more with the intercooler setup pm me if your interested This post has been edited by NEVERSTOP: Oct 16, 2003 - 12:29 AM -------------------- 99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =) |
