Sounds like your car will look sweet Natalie! Are you still planning on 18" Racing Harts?

It is really nice to live away from the parents. The only problem I've had is that saving money for car stuff becomes secondary to a lot of things(rent, utilities, cable, food, gas...). The first couple months are the worst, then you start to find ways to budget better and eventually you will be able to save money again.
The biggest problems I have are eating out, smoking, and drinking. If I could quit smoking and drinking I'd save at least $40 a week.

Oh i shouldnt have a problem..my parents will still pay for insurance, cell bill, and $335 of my rent cuz thats what theyve done with my bro..also they will continue to pay for school! so really all i have to do is get my furniture, groceries, other half of rent, utilities and gas and play money!

Im so thankful that i have my parents there to help me out..but it scares me when i have to actually face the real worldon my own! IM GONNNA BE SCREWED!

You won't be screwed. It takes some adjustment, but it's well worth it. I just wish my parents were more helpful, they will 'loan' me money, and that's it. The only freebies I get are for my birthday and Chanukah(yes, I'm a dirty Jew). They've recently decided that car parts are off the list(guess 6 speeding tickets in 2 years does that), which leaves computer parts, clothes(I hate shopping), electronics, and other small stuff.

What makes me mad is that they help my sister so much(pay for her insurance, furniture, bought her silverware...). I've had to pay my own way since I was 16 and could get a job(8 years now). Even living at home they wanted 200 a month rent when I hit 21.

Well, enough whining. Despite some minor things here and there, living outside of the parents house is very nice(even with roomates). Just make sure you get renters insurance(covers all your furniture/jewelry/electronics... in case of fire/theft).

I find McDonalds the greatestplace on earth as fas as a budget goes. I started at Subway paying $6 a meal, then started getting the smaller subs for Five or something. Then went to mcyd's and paid 3.99 for a #2. Long story short. I now get a chicken sandwich with small drink and small fry for 2.99. I save eight to ten bucks a week. Hey, it's a start!

by the way the topic says "finished", it will be "finished" in the future, not in the past.... I agree with coomer, leave your car for a little and it will be god! I still love driving my car everyday I see it, even with the dents, starting problem, spark plugs blowing out, muffler banging on part of the chassis... You just have no apreciation for it cause you have never done anything to your car yourself, and have never paid for anything on it!

Im not gonna defend myself over and over..i appreciate my car just as much as the next person who PAID ALL OF IT and DID THEIR OWN WORK!
its same ol same ol to me cuz right now i work 8-5 go to school at 5:30 -8 and do that just about everyday..so i only drive when theres traffic..thats not fun..so i feel like a drone cuz i get up sit in traffic, go to work, sit in traffic, go to school, sit in traffic go home and sleep then do it again!

hey nat

hey dont think i am being a dick or anything but its impossible to appreciate a car that you bought all modded and hooked up compared to working for everything, installing everything, blah blah.

its more of a sentimental thing to do it all yourself than buy it with everything on it.

i guess what i mean is that if someone else pays for most or all of your accesories then you wont be able to appreciate it as much as someone who paid for everything themselves through hard work and what not

ive done everything myself, from putting on coilovers, tinting, audio (subs, amp, head unit, even had a tv in there once), almost putting on underdrive pulley (took everything apart but realized i needed a pulley puller =p ), underbody neons, installing front bumper, and changing the rolling mechanism on the driver's side window. only things i didn't do was painting the front bumper and welding the exhaust only because i don't have the equipment. i mean, i love my car to death but.....i'm done...lol. i don't see myself wanting to do 3sgte engine swaps or suicide doors, so...yea tongue.gif

I find the grocery store to be the best on budget. 50 cents a meal for Ramen noodles.
