My celi recently started squeeking like a old mattress when in gear (more pronounced in 1st gear, probably due to cruising at lower speeds.) It goes away after the car has warmed up. It happens even if I put the car in 1st gear and do not release the clutch (effectively neutral-1st). Any ideas?

Any ideas? is it a squeek or more of a high pitch gear whine? start it up cold and imediately put it in gear and just cruise at 20-30k, turn the wheel sharp to the left and right 3-4 times. What Happens??? |

What Happens??? Definitely a squeek, like a rusty old fence kind of squeek. Tight turning makes no effect on the sound. -------------------- Fred

mine does this as well, in gear and at idle. Turned out to be powersteering pump -> when you first start up the vehicle no fluid gets to it so it makes a squeel/squeek as the belt starts to get the pump working. For me it was also like an annoying buzz.
