So I hear all this praise everywhere I look about how great the 3s-gte is. And I don't doubt it one bit but I was just wondering how much boost the engine can handle and what kind of turbo it comes equipped with. Also, what would be an estimated HP after approximately $3000 in mods (let's say 15lbs of boost).

will you be doing the work yourself or having it done. if your having it done at a shop then $3000 wont go very far. if i were you, i'de start from the inside out. start with forged internal, then work on the valvetrain. after that the sky's the limit.

it is different for every engine and on what exactly you do with that $3000 in mods. i plan to eventually get either an st185 alltrac(the full car) or try to import a 6th gen gt4. now if i had $3k for mods i would put it into engine internals first, not sure how much the 2.2 liter stroker kit is but i would go for that and all new gaskets in the engine and a slightly thicker head gasket. after all that money, i would be left with very little power gain, a new engine with more displacement, and a block that would go well past 400whp and be reliable as if it were stock. that leaves pletnty of room for reliable high power fun in the future. but if you want more power fast, you would have to go a different route. spend the $3k on fuel mods, full exhaust and an intake setup. get a fmic setup and a BOV. im not exactly sure where the ct26 turbo starts to lose efficiency, 15psi may be too much for it. besides, isnt there a boost cut somewhere around 12psi? figure you do all those mods and up the boost you would gain a nice amount of power. a lot for a fwd setup -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

here is a great list of upgrades:
http://www.alltrac.net/tuning/ I would go for a turbo upgrade, clutch upgrade and exhaust don't forget if you go big on power, the GT axels may not hold up |
