Hi everybody.... I'm from Paraguay and I have a ST205 JDM, and a friend of mine have a CALDINA ST215W (3sgte gen 4)...
Is it possible to raise the back of the car and just have the front wheels on the dyno. Do the gearbox brake apart or what??... Is the dyno test on the F-wheels accurate yet??... The reason I am asking is because here in my country we don't have a 4wd dyno.. Grettings... thanks in advance... -------------------- No se sabe de lo que se es capaz hasta que se intenta... ;) |

I cant say for sure as I havent actually tried it, BUT I would say with a fair bit of certainty that you will not get an accurate reading as the power is equally split from the front wheels to the rear wheels.
Also, I highly doubt you would find a dyno operator willing to let you use there X0,000 dyno in such a fashion. It would be EXTREMELY dangerous. Have you seen a car run on the dyno? I will guess that you havent, as then you would have never asked this question. The car gets strapped down, so I cant see how you would successfully get the rear (or the front) securely up in there air. Next, if you are able to secure the car enough safely to get is strapped to the rollers.....have you ever seen what a car does after you have completed the run, and let the gas out?.....I bucks, and it bucks HARD. Enough to knock the car off whatever rigging you made up to hold the other end of the car up with. Like I said before, I cant see a dyno operator letting you take this chance on his X0,000$ machine. Think of the damage you would cause if the car fell off the rigging you made at the end of a third gear run......you rear wheels are spinning at over 100mph....and a 4th gear pull pshhh, forget it. You are looking at 130+ It is VERY unsafe, and I would look harder for an AWD dyno. Even if that means taking a vacation for a week and bringing your cars with you. There has to be an AWD dyno somewhere in Brazil, Argentina or Bolivia. GL. --------------------

I'm not sure if the ST205 has this, but the ST185 had a bolt / screw on the tranny where you can make the car run on the front wheels only for dyno runs.
hopefully one of the europe / asia members can clarify if the ST205 came with this option as well -------------------- |

^^^no gtfours above 185 have them^^^
You could strap the front down and have the arse in the air...but in my opinion..its dangerous...hard on your transfer case and doesnt give a good reading. go find an awd dyno...a pain i know but worth it. Thanks people...
In first place, I make the question just to know.... and yes, I always see car running in a dyno and I know how dangerous it is... But, thanks for your reply guys... So, only in the street to tune the ecu by the moment... and in the future, who's now if I do a travel to Sao Paulo... there they have a awd dyno.. I have played with dynolicoues and is pretty good for what it is, but when Tuning a car it will do NO GOOD, dynolicuos is great for getting and HP estimate, 0 - 60 times 60-0 tiomes, measuring G force while driving ( my favorite part ) but it doesn't monitor air : fuel, boost pressure, and other, so in a sence street tuning is the way to go for him, after he gets the air : fuel where he wants it ( using a wideband ) at a set boost level, he can use dynolicous to get an estimate of how much power he is making,

There's GT-4's in Paraguay??? Man, I hate the US!!! Why the discrimination???... here we have a lot of gt-four ST205... only 2 o 3 europe version in all the country (one used for rally, it's an authentic group A), but the rest are JDM with RHD to LHD conversion... He could also use the apexi RSM with g-sensor. Just an idea though, and about on the same level as the Ipod. Anywho, just go find that dyno man and show us the numbers ^_^ , and Good luck. Oh and your car is VERY NICE.
