Ok, here's a question:

Take a '99-04 Mustang GT and compare it to a '96 Celica GT. If the celica GT had a full exhaust set up and light head work along with a SRI and the mild set of webcams...how would it compare to a stock say 2001 Mustang GT? Would the celica be able to stack up even off the line if both cars were on a 1/4 mile track?

Thanks.

Yeah you can't compare a I4 to a V8, it's just a bigger engine able to make more Hp and Torque from the get go, sure Celica's are light but that alone won't compensate for having an engine half the size of a Mustang. The Only way I see our Celica's beating a Mustang is in there handling

Because my question was not answered. I had to revise it so it would be...anyways.

Just curiosity, what about a higher comp. set up with the mild set of cams and doing a port/polish on the intake mani with what I already have and add a possible bigger TB with a modded mass a/f meter to compensate the intake mani and then a session at the dyno? Sounds like a lot but is it possible (to even just take a mustang off the line)?

NO STOP IT. you can spending ****ing 100,000 on an L4 N/A motor worth of Titanium alloy and carbon fibre Lowend (if thats even possible) parts that are super lightweight and provide little to no resistance and its still going to bank you if your lucky 40-50 HP, even if the case of a beams vvti 3s-ge running on this retarded build of stupidly overpriced useless internals you wont bank over 250whp Which still cannot compare to a 4.6L v8 making over 300.... not to mention its rear wheel drive. Please stop. Higher compression on an engine already running 10.5 is pushing it.... Infact i think even some of the v6 dual vtech acura's only run 11.2
and a larger throttle body for what? your non compressed air? you gonna give that air some fuel to fix with or run it lean? try bigger injectors... hell just for the fun of it lets throw an SAFC on there, or in the case of the vvti, V-AFC another 15-20hp. Still not going to cut it.

fact of the matter is, a stock gen3 running an e153 would have a hard time against a mustang.... perhaps a gt-4 would have a fair chance.

STOP IT

^^^its true
a stock 2001 mustang gt will do the quarter in 14.1

i said this before and got flamed by like 10 people but i still think/know i'm right:
a 3rd gen 3sgte completely stock like stock intake, exhaust, boost, tires (so putting out 251bhp) is going to lose against a stock v8 mustang

and thats a swapped celica, an na celica beating a v8 mustang is rediculous

Guys, I was asking even if off the line? Just off the line? You all won, I know a celica won't win in a race.

rearwheel drive with more hp vs front wheel drive with less hp, its fairly straight forward.

You'll have him for about 50 feet, until he catches traction. Merry Christmas.

Well yeah, but what I'm saying is that the Celica will be off the line slightly faster...no? Until the rear wheels catch traction, a really short distance from what I know.

Manny's right the last time I was at the track I thought the mustangs would be faster(i'm not just saying that bc i wanna sound faster) but I was shocked that even my bad times were faster then the mustangs times.( I don't wanna say good times because I have no idea)

6g96gt maybe you can beat him maybe not every race off the line is different esp for when we went to the track and we were trying to learn how to get a good launch.

if you want a stock celica that'll run a stock mustang look for a 7th gen GTS six speed and learn to drive....also mod it slightly with intake/exhaust....maybe a PFC tune for good measure...wait thats not stock anymore.

Bitter, my brother has a lightly modded Celica GTS (newer model) and he takes mustangs off the line for just about 3 seconds and that's it. His is a better engine than mine though.

Why couldn't you have said that when I first asked this question in the revised thread? Instead of just saying..."no".

By the way, I think those 4.6 Mustang GT's have 260 hp not over 300. The newer styles since I believe 2005 and up are at 300 and maybe over.
