between school and work I havent had a lot of time to play with my celica, but I have managed to save up a couple Gs to put into my engine bay. One question though for the swappers out there. would it be better to get the 3s-gtte? or get a 3s-gte and add the extra T later?

Actually, there is no such thing as a 3S-GTTE. Even if there was a twin turbo 3S-GTE, it would still be called the 3S-GTE, like how the 2JZ-GTE only has one T, despite being a twin turbo engine in the MKIV Supra.
Plus, on an engine as small as the 3S-GTE, you only need one turbo. I'd imagine that setting up a twin turbo setup would cost a ton of money and really wouldn't be worth it, when you could spend that money on other parts for the engine. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

4 Cyl engines dont produce enough exhaust to push 2 turbines.

the 3s-gte is a 4 cylinder engine and there isnt a manifold that you can make that would be able to have two flanges for the turbos.
the reason that i say that is because there arent any turbo's small enough to be able to fit in such a tight area just buy a fuel management system and some internals for the engine the 3s-gte will handle 1000hp if properly tuned. probably more |

it sure as hell would get you into any one of the import magazines. you can do it, using very small turbos and it would help to get a stroker kit to up the displacement by .2 liters. you would need a custom manifold made to bolt to two turbos(which would probably be t15 size or smaller) what do you end up with? a cool looking setup that performs about as well as a t3 turbo upgrade for the 3sgte costing about $4k more. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Even if u did all that, each turbo would be pushing 2 cylinders it would kill them.

u mean pushed by 2 cylinders? both the turbos will still pump air into the same itake manifold. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

here's a questions for you guys then:
if someone wanted to upgrade the turbo on a 3s-gte, where would he find a suitable turbo? from what car? what kind of gains would you expect? would it be a reasonable way of getting more power or just a waste of money/time? this has prolly been mentioned somewhere else before but it would be nice to have some actual discussion on this topic as well as maybe concrete all of the information This post has been edited by AJcelica: Oct 31, 2003 - 1:15 AM |

a good article to go for this reference is the SCC issue entitled "crazy boost" it shows how to properly map a turbo and find where your motor would lie on the boost curve and how to properly calculate which turbo size/trim to use. if youre not mathamatically inclined enough than most companies such as Greddy HKS turboxs etc when advertising will list the best suitable situation for the turbo. gains range depending on what the purpose you want the turbo to serve. it all depends on the application. -------------------- Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm...
