Just as it states. I really need your help guys and gals, especially those local to Cali/AZ. I need a new front bumper(Idc on the color), driver side fender, and I dont know if I need just the glass from the drivers side lowbeam( I might be able to fix it, but I dunno) or the drivers side low beam.
I was sitting at the exit to leave the gas station when a guy(I'm holding in all the colorful language, but trust me its hard) was pulling in(the entrance has room for about 4 cars to fit). I learned to just sit even if you see a blinker because sometimes ppl just leave them on, so I sat. He ran right into my front end. I was in the far right lane waiting to turn right, he was coming in from my left. I attempted to get out to check the damage, but the door wouldn't really open because the fender was blocking it. As I struggled to get out, the guy put it into reverse and bailed. I tried catching up to him, but by the time I got all back in the proper mindframe and not pure rage/confusion, he was gone. I decided to drive it home and then get out of the passenger side because the gas station is only a quarter mile or so from the house. I will post up pics. This isn't a WTB thread, that will come up when I get back soon, along with the pics. Just figured I'd throw a heads up on parts I need in the mean time while I cool off a bit. If you have my number, txt me, or if you know someone who has the parts I need for cheap or reasonable price that I can get the parts quick, pm me or txt me. Here goes, it doesn't look that bad, but it still makes me sick to my stomach..... Figured out, its the lowbeam, front bumper, fender, and then the supports to my radiator and random other supports and stuff like that are crunched up, can't tell too much from these pics but its what I have atm from my cell phone. And as she sits now.... Just to think, earlier today she looked like this.... This post has been edited by dabazied: Dec 8, 2009 - 11:21 PM -------------------- |

I want you to do me a favor. Grab a piece of pen and paper and write down everything you remembered about the accident. Remember tiny details such as what color the car was, make, model, possibly a couple numbers off license plate. Were there cameras on intersection etc etc. If you wish to pursue this person... penalties could be really steep for hit and run.

You know what this is about? Escalation. He hit your car, did some damage. I say you take it to the next level. Burn his house down!
All inappropriateness aside, that really sucks, man. Do what Yarik suggested, and write everything down before you forget. Maybe the cops won't do anything about it; maybe they will. If they happen to see this old beater car sitting around at Wal-Mart next week matching the description you gave them with some red paint that doesn't belong on it, it seems pretty suspicious. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. I'm so sorry to hear about your car. It's a huge concern of mine, too. Today someone almost rear ended me at about 45mph. If he didn't swirve out of the way into the turning lane, that would have been it. Sad thing is, I was just sitting there at a red light.. I didn't suddenly stop or anything.
How is your insurance? Will this be covered, or will this be on your hands and your hands only. I agree with what was posted above. Remember all you can and report it to the police. -------------------- |

Thats definitely a kick in the... groin. It might be a while before I'm back from Iraq, but I bought a set of projectors for my GT. Once I get 'em on, if you still need my USDM one, I'll send it out to you. I also won't charge cause I know how much it sucks. My first car was totaled by a hit and run when I wasn't even in the car. Sorry to hear about what happened. This guy will get what's coming to him. I know this isn't a WTB: thread, but I can do my best to help you out with what you need in that department. I don't have my phone on my right now, but I will try to contact you this weekend.

There's a kid relatively local to me (who's a member on here but isn't on much) who's got a bumper for cheap. Real cheap. I'm more than happy to be the go-between and make it happen for you if you're willing to have it shipped. I can't imagine the whole thing costing more than $100 shipped. I can use the UPS account at work, which w/the corporate discount, makes shipping much less than regular consumer rates. I have no idea what the size of the box would be, but it sure won't be heavy!
PM me if you're interested, and I can check and get an approximation on what shipping would run. As for the bumper itself, I think the kid only wanted like $40 for it. He just wants to get rid of it is all, it's in decent condition. Oh and it's silver, for the record -------------------- |

Thanks everybody for the replies and stuff. I remember a lot, it was a early to mid 90s thunderbird, teal, kind of a darker teal. I've actually got a good amount of his color on my fender, so matching it up wouldn't be that hard. License plate, not sure about, was def a cali tag with the cursive writing(not the old school block stuff) Other than that, there was nothing to remember except the driver and passenger's face. It was at the entrance of a gas station and he had just turned at the light to get on the street to take the side entrance, not sure about cameras. I figure replying this stuff here is easy as writing it down, plus I wont lose the piece of paper this way lol.......
I'm not worried about color Griff, I'll shoot you a PM, I just have to see if I can even afford that in the budget atm(gotta love the economy and scheister bosses who haven't paid out in over a month now lol). Thanks Derrick, hit me up. Lilgreenyota, thanks man, hit me up when you get back, but hopefully I'll have that part taken care of *fingers crossed* CastrolCelica, honestly, I'm a bit weary to bring it up to my insurance because a similar thing happened to my buddy, they still put the accident on his record, never found the guy, and his rates still went up(not skyrocket, but still, it's the principle of the thing, ya know?). Richee3, if I see this car around, trust me, Imma........ call the cops immediately like a responsible person would*cough*lil retribution first*cough* lol, jk on the coughing part, well maybe, I'll deal with that bridge when I come to it. I'm really wondering if anyone knows of where I could rent a grinder and some welding supplies for a day or if anyone local knows where I could borrow one, at least then I could get the fender back on track so that it will at least fit until I can get a new one and also fix those supports and mounts. Also, anyone know what the cost of just the lens would be for the headlight? Clear or stock, doesn't matter. I mite be able to do a temp fix on it so it's still usable until I can get another whole assembly(still have all the tabs which were all broken off, WHICH I just swapped in there because my old one had broken tabs). -------------------- |

My retribution would have been easy... his repairs would not.
Someone rear ended my freshly painted celica on a parking lot. There was a tape of it too but cops failed to find the car. I had it cornered by end of the day. Owner got a nasty surprise that probably cost 5 times more than my $300 repair bill. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

You could have just called the cops and they would have sited him and you'd have been covered on your repair, not have committed a crime, AND hurt his insurance policy and given him a police record for a hit and run. Not only did you do him a favor by not giving him a police record, but you also put yourself in risk of being caught for damaging someone's property...whether it was justified or not. -------------------- |

Picked up a black driver side fender today for CHEAP! lol..... I have the bumper reshaped, the only problem is there's some cracks, and also the part on the sides for where the bumper bolts to the fenders, both of those "tabs" are broken off. I'm not sure if that part is fixable or not, so I'm still in the market for a bumper, and a lens/whole headlight for the drivers side low beam. Definitely need either the lens, or the whole assembly, probably the latter because I've been tweaking with the housing and it's almost looking like a lost cause, but oh well.
Thanks again to everyone for the support in moral and help in other ways. -------------------- |
