I took my gt4 front bar to the paint shop recently, and they handed the reobar back to me saying it wouldn't bolt up with the new bumper. I know it needs to be cut in order to fit on, just curious where it needs to be cut and what tools i should be using to cut it. I have a fair bit of experience using power tools, but I haven't cut metal before, would an angle grinder with an appropriate wheel be sufficient?
I need the reobar to fit on by friday so it can pass my registration inspection |

I need the reobar to fit on by friday so it can pass my registration inspection not sure what you mean by reobar but if its what i would call a crashbar its relitivly easy to cut, the problem you will find is that there are levels to it, look in one end and you will see what a mean, i used a jig saw with a long blade to cut mine but a resipricating saw would have been easier, an angle grinder with a cutting disk would work but will not be easy to get those inside pieces, post a pic so we can help you better though as i may be thinking of something completly different to you. good luck... -------------------- You're here for a good time, not a long time. - Colin McRae When in doubt... im curious as to which side needs to be 'trimmed back' to fit the bumper, is it the top or the bottom of the crashbar? |

Ok here are the photos, from what ive gathered its the bottom edge that hits against the bumper, but i had a quick look at the crash bar mounts and it looks like top may hit against it too, not sure about that.
I've gathered i have to cut across these 2 lines |

i have the veilside/invader style bumper so i had to cut off the bottom, but from pics i've seen of the gt4 front i think you have to cut the top, look at the threat in mutimedia titled "the way i like it" he has a gt4 front without cutting the crash bar, you can see it through the top vents...

Hi Mate,
I did this exact same thing only 2 weeks ago. you have to cut exactly where you have the red lines shown in that photo. Its the bottom that needs to be removed. Once you remove this it will fit. I also had to take out the foam filling that sits inside the bumper. But thats nothing, it just slides out. I used a grinder with a metal disc and it was fine, very easy job. Let us know how you go. -------------------- 2 X ST165 GT4's

supercheap auto has a set of 100mm fog lights which are INCREDIBLY easy to fit, they come with a bracket and some screws, mounting them in the bumper took 5min

Yep, thats my GT4 in Kelsor pl arlight...hehehe, small world.
Mate best place in Sydney to deal with for GT4 parts is Ichiban in Moorebank NSW. They sold me all these parts for the following price: GT4 front bar $95 GT4 Bonnet $120 GT4 Foglights $50 for the pair. Tell me anywhere else in Australia that will give you that. I did have to go to some other place to get the GT4 bonnet latch, that was a place in Girraween, paid $45. -------------------- 2 X ST165 GT4's

I dont understand, why would it cause you to have a gap ?
Is it still hitting? have you tried taking out the foam which is in the bumper, cause I had to do that on mine. -------------------- 2 X ST165 GT4's

Japan Autoparts are way too expensive. They wanted $650 for the GT-4 bumper, in terrible condition, without the foam inserts, the grill or the foglights.
I got my GT-4 bumper, without fog lights, but with the rest, from a place called Asian Auto spares in Underwood QLD for $200 =) |
